There are tons of positions available for all the medical specialities as a locum tenens but for Podiatrists there are like zero. Seriously Google it. Sometimes the only companies hiring locum tenens Podiatrists are nursing home companies. It’s kind of crazy. A large part of the reason is it’s impossible to get a license in another state in anything less than 4-6 months, which limits mobilities. And some states boards have really weird requirements that makes it not worth it for a Podiatrist to hold the 4-5 state licenses it would require to travel.
Even with those limits there are just none available. Nobody ever puts them up. It’s odd. If you are interested, here is a good article I read on it
I mean maybe Podiatry can get equality by getting some locum tenens opportunities. With multi specialties and orthopedic groups hiring Podiatrists that might be a possibility.
