Do you know how you become board certified in podiatry sports medicine ? You pay dues for 2 years and complete a take home test. Now we have board certification in crapola like MIS, geriatrics, diabetic foot, medicine (whatever that means). Is anyone else embarrassed ? Fellowship in ASPS ? Pay dues. Pediatrics ? Pay dues. Most podiatrists know that one of the main problems in podiatry is STANDARDIZATION. For example. One group wants podiatry to be mainstream and medical. The other group wants podiatry to be a BUSINESS without the responsibilities and academics of an actual Doctor. Another dichotomy is in arch support theory. There are those zealots who truly believe than adding or bending a piece of plastic a degree or two is worth hundreds of dollars more than an “off the shelf shoe insert. Around here the podiatry business machine is working. This morning a number of technicians are taking the MANDANTORY FOOT CARPENTRY EXAM TO “REUP” THEIR TECHNICIAN STATUS. AROUND $800/EXAM. Those that FLUNK may lose their livelihood or at least will have to pay and pay to take reviews and exams. The “pretend your an orthopod club” is raking it in and has millions in the bank. Dr. Jonathon Moore (ie. Mooreon’s) balance brace is the laughing stock of this profession. How come the manufacturer of the Mooreon Brace never ever approached neurology and/or physical medicine professionals ? Quite simply, because they would laugh. And primary care physicians and geriatric medicine specialists would tell their elderly patients to go to CVS, Wallgreen’s or Rite Aid and purchase either a standard offset cane, quad cane or rollator.
As podiatry fades away to the boogie of the hu$tling beat, they will remain obturate (Caddy Pod). Refusing to acknowledge reality. Their “life” was a bad joke. It stood for nothing except getting money and expanding at all costs whilst exploiting others for their $ gain. Anyone who’s honest can see what a mixed up quack profession podiatry is. Just look at the NY Times of quackery, Barry Blocks’ money making(for himself) blog. No consensus in a quack profession.
