There is nothing wrong with referring a patient to a licensed internist to diagnose any systemic condition pre surgically or to contact an internist, to treat a systemic disease. This may apply to any surgical specialist. The whole key to economic survival I believe is the importance of becoming an employee. With all those nuclear malpractice suits out there and practice expenses I do not feel private practice is economically viable.

For example in podiatric medical school we learned a gastrox soleus equinous could cause an anterior pelvic tilt to bring body over the foot. We cannot treat the anterior pelvic tilt but perhaps could treat the gastro soleus equinous if part of our podiatric scope of practice.
