Truth and Integrity are lost at the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (JFAS)

Truth and Integrity are lost at the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (JFAS)

Here are all the patent holders + Weil writing an infomercial for the Lapiplasty.  This article was rejected by Foot and Ankle Specialist.

(High marks for their Editor and his reviewers !!)

The only Journal which accepts this rubbish is JFAS who blindly allowed the authors to disclose “consultant” status for Treace.

The truth is that they all received royalty fees as well as consulting fees from 2015-2019.

This article published in 2018, long after the patent holders had pocketed over 1 Million in royalty fees starting in 2014.

Treace switched from paying these guys “consulting fees” only in 2014-2015, to combination consulting and royalty fees starting in 2016.

In 2017, the year prior to this publication, Treace paid Hatch, Santrock, Smith and Dayton a total of $750,000 divided among both royalty fees and consulting fees.

Here is the disclosure of those same individuals in JFAS stating that as of 2018:

Review Articles

The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery 57 (2018) 972–981

Conflict of Interest: None reported.

Address correspondence to: Daniel James Hatch, DPM, Medical Center of the Rockies,

All that podiatry has done in response to its severe problems is to institute piecemeal solutions, and these fade away in time, akin to elevator flatulence. Structural problems, after all, require structural solutions; this is not rocket science. The only problem is that this is equivalent to saying that podiatry shd become a different profession. The chances of that border on negative infinity; like hopes for dopes and the last chapter of we shoulds, we needs to, ought tos, delusional action plans that don’t amt to jack shit. Podiatry was completely and utterly screwed.

Virtual doctorate–Robert great one. More like a virtual “profession” with virtual opportunities…..It’s as if they enjoyed being duped and screwed over. They loved being lied to.

Barry Block is at it again. Trying to make a silk purse out of sow’s ear. Saying it another way. Trying to make an MD out of a dpwtf certificate. Well you failed to fool me Barry, as well as most Pod Posters. We’re not any more impressed with Kent (ohio ft. school’s) virtual graduation as their VIRTUAL DOCTORATE. A big deal is made of podiatrist Dowdy who got a job. Listed are his rez, fellowships, and his boards in Sx, Pod Med?!, and wound care. Impressed by such esteemed credentials? So what does it add up to? It adds… Read more »

THIS IS PODIATRY…. the Pod schools need students to get money to run the schools and the DPMS at the schools to get an income, The Pod residency programs get money from CMS and the residency directors get a check and cases from the residents…The practitioners hire the residency grads at a cheap price because the new grads need money to survive…the Political pods get consulting jobs with every vendor they can get./..The board exam DPMs get money from crazy exam prices and get nice trips and hotels…and it goes on and on and on…..Anyways..its over for Pod world…no students… Read more »

I hope our posts have saved potential students from making the “PODIATRIC MISTAKE”. If podiatry presented itself honestly, as minor DOCTOR’S ASSISTANTS, (with a trumped up title) and knowing this, the student still choses the quasi medical business of podiatry FINE. But to present the SURGEON title (read failed lawsuit of TX pod assoc.), the “the” specialists of the foot, the MD doesn’t know anything about the foot, we know biomechquactics BS is just that…BS to keep the Barry Block’s and those aforementioned above by Alan Stein, RICH. Let all potential students know PODIATRY HAS A CULT BEHIND IT IN… Read more »

Not suprising. Thank you Seth for actual new/investigative journalism instead of Trump good, Trump bad, Biden senile, Biden not senile–“news” blather, how make good brownies, and wish “celeb” has a nice ass.

This has been an ongoing problem with the JFAS. Christopher Hyer is another one with “no conflicts to report”. It’s time for D. Scott Malay to go. The Executive Director of the JFAS must take action. It is all uncalled for. A disgrace.

But, it’s how podiatry roles. Joseph did the same for years when writing about anti-bx and antifungals in JAPMA. These guys make used car salesmen look honest. When you are legally limited to what you can treat, you have to work even harder to make a buck. I know Robert refers to podiatry as a business, not a medical profession. But it isn’t even a great business opportunity. My brother in law makes a better living owning a dry cleaners. A friend has made alot more money as the owner of a DME company. Unfortunately, podiatry is both a second… Read more »

Think of Boots Horotwitz. Bored certified in horseshit. 87 yrs old and still was working. Loved money. It was a sickness with them. Maybe instead of Outragggeous shoe pics of day, maybe crashed car pics?
