You know the APMA gets bashed a lot on this website. While I have already decided to stand up for the American Podiatric Medical Association. I want people to finally respect this organization for the paradigm of virtue and its essential role in promoting Podiatry.
1. The Dues – Just think for a little over 1k your money can go to helping the executive director take a year off from his practice and get paid over 100k. Why do they do this??? Cause he is busy promoting Podiatry of course. The executive director flies to Podiatry conferences all over the country (do not worry you are paying for it) to promote podiatry further. What could give you greater satisfaction. Why does the APMA need this position? Isn’t it obvious, all these white guys have spent years grifting APMA members. It is only right and fair that they ascend to the holiest of grifter positions.
2. Conferences – You get discounts for conferences. What’s that you say, all the conferences are the exact same??? with the same speakers??? giving the same speeches??? Next you will argue there are hundreds of conferences all over the country that you can attend, and CMEs can be had cheap on line.
Sure that might be true. But where else would you have a bankrupt Podiatrist lecture on how to properly run your Podiatric practice. Huh WHERE I ASK.
3. The Coding pearls – Where else are you going to be able to find tips on Podiatry Coding. Surely the APMA has a monopoly on that. Wait, you say there are a bunch of Coding books and websites out there that are free. Yes but the APMA’s is better because you can pay for it. You just do not get it. All right, maybe that did not get it done.
4. Promotion of Podiatry – The APMA promotes Podiatry everywhere. Surely an organization with the size and money of the APMA can be number one on google searches for such terms as “ingrown toenail”, “bunion” or “plantar Fasciitis”. What’s that you say, they are not even on the first page???? But they say their website is great at promoting Podiatry, how weird. It’s almost like it’s not. Hell, I bet this article gets to the google first page when you google APMA.
5. The reason to join is simple: the grifters need you. Do you expect these people to make money in private practice? They need you to be successful for their grifts to work. Some Pods can make money but as Eddie says some Pods can only make money on other pods.
