How should you, as a podiatrist, manage patients at risk for corona virus infection once they enter your office? Well you will FINALLY get an answer from the APMA. Instead, their initial response was to tell us about the brave BOD cancelling their self serving power clinging money grabbing HOD meeting. Oh and the web site has new info on the APMA coding seminar, given the risk of infection to those making money from that. But directions for patient care and office management for those at risk? FINALLY. Yes they FINALLY put out a statement. And do you know why ? Because “Anything for a Buck Barry” (AFABB) wrote to them asking what the hell are you doing ? So these geniuses, who cannot get insurance carriers to pay you equally, who still cannot equate podiatry lay and benefits to real doctors in the VA, who cannot get mandated coverage for podiatrists in Medicaid, HAVE FINALLY got together and issued advise. This pandemic looms as a death knoll for podiatry. For the schools, for the residents, for practices. Patients will prioritize travel risks. And toenail cutting ain’t going to be one of them. When elective surgeries are stopped, when the hospitals are strapped financially, when the ortho groups are cash diminished, who will be dumped out the ass faster than a taco Tijuana ? The PA who can assist in care ? The NP who can assist in care ? When the real crisis peaks, do you actually believe that podiatry services will be a priority ? 1. I recall Seth came up with the idea of closing our offices or I feel at the very least allowing one or 2 patients in at a time. Perhaps we should cancel non emergency patients.
