The journal, American Family Physician ( 2018, 98 (5) ) contains an interesting article by Becker and Childress. Keep in mind this article has been written in the journal read by primary care physicians.
The article demonstrates the significant impact that APMA has made on the primary care world. You can just feel the respect the PCP has for the D.P.M.
To wit:
Here’s a summary of the article
(the abstract).
“Most foot disorders do not require podiatry referral or complex interventions. After the clinical diagnosis is made, these conditions can typically be managed with over the counter at home remedies with guidance from the primary care physician. Stretching and strengthening exercises, along with the use of heel cups, resolve most plantar fasciitis cases and are at least as effective as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or steroid injections. Hallux rigidus is best managed with hard soled shoes or rigid inserts that relieve pain by restricting motion across the metatarsal phalanges joint. Hallux valgus responds to the use of wide toe box shoes and surgery is not clearly beneficial beyond one year. Plantar warts can be treated effectively at home with over-the-counter salicylic acid and cryotherapy topical agents, which have equal effectiveness to liquid nitrogen. In patients with corns and calluses over-the-counter topical salicylic acid has short term benefits, and pads and inserts that more evenly redistribute contact forces have a long term benefits. Inserts or pads are recommended to redistribute contact foot pressure and relieve pain. Several over the counter preparations are available for the treatment of tinea pedis with topical allylamines being the most effective. Although over the-counter topical treatments have been widely used for onychomycosis they have poor long-term cure rates compared with prescription oral medications.”
Well there you go. 3 year residency training in podiatry including RRA ?
Equality to the M.D. ? Too bad students aren’t given this summary in the first 10 minutes of Podiatry trade school.
It would save a lot of time and money.
However, what do the family physicians know about the outrageous shoe of the day ? (Barry !)
Or foot typing ? (Dr.’s Shavelson and DeCaro !)
Or balance braces ? (Dr. Moore !)

It was all abt compliance and obediance in the us empire. That’s what filtered through to dp wtf ville. Any Outliers–critical independent thinkers, those with an IQ > 75, etc… were not allowed to progress in podupetry. Remember—–that many if not almost all dp wtfs really believe in what they;re saying (like most usa-ians) , however, if they believed something truly different, they wouldn’t be sitting where they’re sitting. Obedient lil drones, tax/debt slaves. Hamster wheeling into oblivion with shit to show for it. Except materialistic shit bought on credit. Stay thirsty dp wtfs, buy more swill. Emptiness. Reality…..It’s Traumatic.
Podiatry will never ever ever ever change. It was not only willfull blindness, but a mental derangement–psychosis–detachment from reality.
Most were americans, and as such they looked reality in the eye and denied it. It was a business opportunity, a business enterprise–hustlers, hucksters, and 250 words in the English for conmen. What does that tell you. Everything was abt monetising everything. Why would podupetry be any different.
Let it crash. They deserve it.
Yeah, the APMA and lifers will squelch the fact that the legislators DON’T REALLY CONSIDER PODIATRISTS DOCTORS. THEY DON’T TRUST THEM TO GIVE FLU shots so why would they trust them to RX pot? A stupid foot technician named Smith must have written his own medical and physiology books. He says If you RX POT IT WILL CAUSE DIABETES! If you Rx pot a person will become impotent, and develop neuropathy, and if you rx pot, a pt. will go on dialysis and the foot technician will be SUED! See, if you don’t want to be sued don’t RX marijuana!… Read more »
Do not let the apma board members get near any marijuana. Can you imagine the food bills we will pay out of our dues ? Frisch and Santi would F-N explode like an atomic bomb.
Maybe they can give out marijuana baked brownies in the exhibit halls. Then DeHeer and DeCaro and Moore and the Executive Director would make SOME sense.
No explosions, rather more hot air blather. Gastworthless made off like a bandit. EVEN after all these comments. Nothing will change. Like a sherman tank careening towards a cliff, or a toddler stopping a boulder from coming down a hillside. It’s over. Peer reviewed articles like those mentioned are nothing new. Podupetry was always a huge ? mark. A whatsa (Caddy Pod), a huh, a what, a huh. dp huh? A bunch Willy Lomans. usa-ers.
I saw in PM News where a podiatrist in Pennsylvania was told a DPM did not qualify to prescribe marijuana. Perhaps the Pennsylvania medical board and government didn’t read the letter from the APMA in PM news. They APMA endorses the DPM ability to prescribe marijuana. The problem is that with the smaller letters, apma. You see nobody cares what the APMA says. Maybe Talar Medical (the apma BOD GPO) can cut you a deal to sell marijuana at a discount.
20/20 in 1995 episode that dp wtfs were not physicians, etc//etc…believe gassworthless was featured too.
Again, when is this major unreal “revolution” change, resist gonna happen. Cue: NEVER. It’s. OVER.
