My God! When does the bullshit end. We are podiatrists: not doctors. We spend most, if not all our time, holding a nail clipper. When we do hold a scalpel, it is parallel to the skin. Some of us on rare occasions will do a minor surgery, even though we, by law and lack of training, cannot handle possible complications such as an embolism or sepsis. Is a DPWTF “foot and ankle surgeon” like a transgender MD ? I see that the Ohio Foot and Ankle Society is having a meeting. Last year, all the speakers were (excuse the phrase) podiatrists. What ever happened to the Ohio State Podiatry Society ? Did the podiatrists in Ohio disappear ? Were they replaced by the foot and ankle surgeons ? Were they placed in some type of camp ? I heard today that Disney will no longer use the terms boy or girl. Well that’s the beauty of today’s world. I am a podiatrist but I self identify as an MD. I am an MD trapped in a podiatrists body. It is offensive and demeaning and hurtful when you call me a podiatrist. And do not use the C word. That causes me pain. The podiatry schools teach critical podiatry theory. This may be difficult for our MD or DO brethren to understand, but it should be mandatory reading for them. Remember, podiatry lives matter !
