Yes, orthopedists and general surgeons have been, and will remain when, where, and how pods function in hospital settings. The so-called podiatry residencies and residency directors are wholly at the mercy of MD/DO department heads. Inarguably the DPM is not part of the decision making process regarding who in podiatry gets privileges. What’s not stated is that orthopedic surgeons have CREDIBILITY…You don’t need a map to know podiatry isn’t on it. There are less than ethical orthos and generally among MDs, but they have the clout and wherewithal to do as they please. Podiatry, to most is just some funky disease…of the nails – If pods had the clout, who knows we’d have all sorts of gimmicks and potions. That’s why pods have the scope detector.
