Shockwave treatment and Exercises are equally effective in treating Plantar Fasciitis

Shockwave treatment and Exercises are equally effective in treating Plantar Fasciitis

A recent scam…….I mean treatment for Plantar Fasciitis is shockwave treatment or ESWT. The theory behind this treatment is the patient will pay the Podiatrist $500 for six treatments that will be effective for Plantar Fasciitis. Now there is no actual evidence it works other than making the Podiatrist a couple thousand dollars off the treatment, whereas exercises, of which there are multiple studies, are proven to be effective. Check this out. Here is a study comparing exercises to shockwave treatment for Plantar Fasciitis and guess what…

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5931170/

So to summarize: exercises cost patient nothing other than spending some time going over. Shockwave treatment cost patients 2k and are no better than exercise.

Yes Eddy, Despite foot technician rhetoric re: “think horses before zebras”, podiatrists need to accept that ZEBRAS DO RUN and they’re the ones that will KILL YOU! Because most podiatrists don’t take themselves seriously as DOCTORS (despite their outward proclamations to the contrary) they punt the serious by saying, let the MD worry about the big stuff and break into the foot college chant of: “IF I wanted medicine I would have gone to medical school”. (yeah, IF you weren’t rejected) I blame the podiatric naivete of the existence of serious disease manifesting in the L.E. on silly foot signs… Read more »

How does that explain the low pitched, overly serious ,Fettuccini ? What you’re saying is that there’s acting just like versus real deal. Many Dp wtfs play the part but are artificial as Formica or wall paneling.

Was rapping with person (didn’t say patient), who suffers with Paget’s. He c/o numbness and tingling in his heels and sole and saw a pod. 70 y/o, s/p hip, knee, spine surgery. Mentioned having hx of gout. The pod saw him weekly, put him on all sorts of meds (you know what I’m talking about-I don’t do free advertising for bullshit), and got weekly injections, and got worse. For the hell of it he went to a chiropractor who examined him, found tenderness at piriformis, and ordered blood tests, spine MRI. Referred to physiatrist who injected piriformis…all better. (scar tissue… Read more »

I had a similar experience. 14 y.o. f came in with a blown up forefoot… and I mean blown up, with pain. No hx of trauma, other than that she is a cheerleader. She had just been to another doc (I think RD), x-ray was taken, was negative. Popped the CD in, took a look, and correctomundo. I had a long conversation with her and her dad, and found out a few months before her ankle on the same side had also become extremely swollen and painful while on vacation. It was checked out, couldn’t find anything, gave her crutches… Read more »

Eddy is ALWAYS WORTH REQUOTING. I loved and laughed at these TRUTHS! “How do you get CUSTOMERS! in the door”? Strip mall foot care, ….”went on to UNLEASH THE TIDE OF CURRENCY”, “ask any former inhabitant of a correctional facility where some of the greatest GAIT ANALYSIS DEVICES were developed”! (yeah! remember all the ads for orthotic measuring machines? You know what happened to them? Insurance wouldn’t pay for the quackery and they ended up as OTC gimmicks in every Dr Scholl drug store kiosk. Some wtf’s paid 15-20 grand to buy them. The SEDUCTION OF RICHES MAKE WTF’S WET.… Read more »

Telling the truth does NOT pay the bills. In fact, folks can get very angry and do rather crazy things when confronted with reality. Look at Robert. Told the truth. Got banned/censored. Villified by the DP WTF establishment. If he kept quiet, toed the line, he’d likely be asst vp of podiatrical theatrical etc. flying around eating shrimp, and selling lies. Hence, telling folks (idiots) what they want to hear can be an easy path to getting rich. Path of least resistance and just administratively “convenient” to smile, clap, and nod. F it. NEver ever tell folks what you really… Read more »

Gimmicks, copycatting, and just as. The recipe of a brotherhood of rejects. It was a 3rd chance club. Remember kiddies–a low pitched voice, appear pensive/overly serious, and have a name that ends in a vowel–and you’re the chief!

Expect Elliot Udell to write into Barry Block asking, if and why, ECWT sometimes works and other times not; just like he asked today why Ultrasound guided injections don’t work regularly either. The SEDUCTION OF GREED (make an easy dollar) promised to gullible non MD’s by SALESMEN has been a weak locus in podiatry’s DNA for a generation. In a desperate attempt to be “just like”, (medical doctors), podiatrists look for “arcane impressive treatments” and riches to blur and hide the differences between podiatrists and DOCTORS.

Dr. Udell’s Jalapy by General Motors is a 35 year old Chevrolet Caprice with a V-8 engine. His mother bought it for him on the salary her son was paying her to run the front desk, collect money and answer the phone.

He does not do anything for free. Book chapters, articles etc…all require payment. That’s the DP WTF way. Nothing, NOTHING for free. ALWAYS charge for everything. F learning, f academics, f helping move forward a shitty 1970s profession. Charge for everything! DP WTF FOREVER!!! Dingle Barry

Last time I spoke with Elliot he told me he had to put his mother in a nursing home.

Asked a pod what he wanted to be
He said, “baby, can’t you see
I want to be famous, a star of the foot club,
But you can do something in between

Baby, you can drive Usmells car
Yes, you’re gonna be a star,
Baby, you can drive jewfros car
And maybe I’ll sell you some tea tree oil lotions.

Flatus,

Can you imagine Elliot with a JewFro on top of his head inside a 35 year old Chevrolet.
His mommy must be telling everyone in the nursing home, “My son’s a New Yawk doctor with a JewFro. However, he cannot afford to get his hair cut and styled.

As Bub Frawley, from the TV show: My Three Sons said, “I hope none of these kids do that chiropody thing.” Later on down the road, Opie, from the Andy of Mayberry recalled Don Knotts (Barney Fife) told him that Floyd the barber would offer to the off to college Opie that he’d give him a barber chair when he finished his chiropodical studies, and offered to provide new and improved equipment courtesy of the city slicker Zing Zingener all the latest in modern equipment. And so Mayberry would generate a new wave in backwoods footcare—Goober patted Opie on the… Read more »

They teach this crap at podiatry post grad “training” “programs”. And the idiot residunces (E) eat it up like a shitty tv dinner while soy boy smiling. Journal clubs also discuss this bs, run by podo “director” conartists talking up this nonsense. Bottom line: the poorfession was rotten top to bottom and no wonder why podiatry was a persona non grata in Real medical circles. BTW as Robert has stated and many others: The MD title is sometimes mistakenly ‘attached’ to pods and the pods love it bc it muddies the waters and confuses the public into thinking pods are… Read more »
