Treatment of venous disease in the leg is out of scope for many podiatrists in many states. This is why one idea would be to first get an NP degree to be licensed to treat the leg as an NP and to save up money to afford podiatric medical school so that one can qualify to join the APMA as a podiatric medical student with an NP degree.

If one is a nurse practitioner they have an opportunity to make money and save up to be able to afford to be one a podiatry student. This way they are licensed to treat the ankle as an NP and to join the APMA as a podiatry student. Think of all the wonderful courses at podiatric medical school.
