There has been a lot of talk about purchasing Podiatry practices in the PM News. The fact is Podiatry practices are only worth the amount that the equipment is worth not a penny more. I know there are many Podiatrists that want to retire by selling there practice based on gross receipts, that is a scam. Have an appraiser come in the value the equipment and that is the price you should pay.

Sorry Seth but the suggestion that a practice is only worth the equipment value is absolutely a falsehood. Organizations such as Upperline Health or USFAS and other similar practice acquisition entities are purchasing based upon practice revenue. Individual sales and practice transfers are generally proceeding in a similar manner. It is true that some less successful ( financially ) practices might sell with little if any value. To me, the only relevant point is: “many podiatrists are being increasingly HIRED BY orthopedic groups.” That is, podiatrists are being HIRED AS EMPLOYEES OF MD DOCTORS to apply casts scrape skin and do mostly minor procedures. Podiatry Practice value as of 2024….. 38% of gross income and dropping. No one is looking for a practice to buyu they are looking for a job with a pay check. The Profession is spiraling downward, no one can define what Podiatry is. The push that this is a surgical specialty has doomed Podiatry.
