Podiatry has no Central Core

Podiatry has no Central Core

The APMA should sell tickets to the upcoming house of delegates meeting.  Or sell broadcast rights.  It’s going to be a doozy, as finally the membership realizes the past and present incompetency of the leadership.  When your own hired consultants conclude that you are the blame, the end is near.

Podiatry is now a decentralized profession without a central core.  Almost 2,000 attended ACFAS two weeks ago.  Why ?  Because ACFAS has effectively replaced the APMA as its core.  As the Barry Block generation dies off, so too is the APMA.  People are quitting, people not joining.  You are forced to join the APMA if you wish to join your local society.  If this tithing were not “the rule”, most members would tell the APMA what the USMLE told them, screw off you undereducated twits.

As of this writing, there are less than 600 applicants to the 10 podiatry schools.  Less than 600.  That’s an average of 60 applicants per school.  It’s time for podiatry to enter hospice care.  Last rites are not far ahead.  And Lawrence Harkless is adding yet another school.  Just what do you envision will therefore be accepted into colleges ?  An average GPA of 3.9 ?   A top 5% MCAT performer ?  An Ivy League graduate ?

There is no central core.  Residents run around at the local level searching for cases where they can find them.  The diversity and lack of educational standardization in podiatry’s non-ACGME “residencies” is frightening to consider.  Everything is local, with no true central regulation, only a nod and wink from CPME, ABFAS, ACFAS, ABPM and all the other for nothing but meet podiatric guarantors of quality programs to protect the public.

There is no central core.  Every week there are 2,3,4 podiatry seminars run by who knows whom or some phony organization claiming to be education motivated.  And podiatrists sign up by the hundreds.  Lectures on quack theories, hucksters selling medications or devices of unproven efficacy, more excuses to perform unneeded surgery, needlessly expensive wound care products, or unnecessarily expensive fixation devices are the rule.  Oh, and coding.  Lots of that.

There is no central core.  Each state functions in its own manner with differing scopes of practice and an eclectic non-cooperative array of requirements for licensure and licensure maintenance.

There is no central core.  The “profession” tolerates, accepts, encourages a vast array of pseudo-board certifications which those holding memberships as you know are fraudulent misrepresentations.

There is no central core.  If you are a reader, look at foot and ankle research published each month.  The articles published are 100-1

orthopedic authored.

You have individual podiatrists making beau coup bucks.  Others not doing well at all.  No consistency.  Toenails to tibia.

No leadership.  No consistency or reliability in college curriculum, residency training, post graduate education, scope of practice, income production.

And as a result no one is applying to be a podiatrist.

Time to buy a grave plot, coffin, and make the necessary arrangements.  Sorry all you APMA parasites, you have killed your host organism.

Dr. Stinehour :

Apparently you “get it” and “see it”. It is a shame that all the leaders of the APMA have blinders on.

We got old fart mid 70 somethings still maintaining a foot “license” and willfully voluntarily attending and paying for education classes—at mid 70s. Yep, that’s greatness to keep all those options open…as an old man. THen writes very lengthy boring redundant proclamations about BB and his buddies–love and hate are quite similar. yet castigates BB for getting money in his mid 70s. Hypocrites. If you hate podiatry, don’t support them. Period. Starve their wallets. Remember? Or is that just yammer and virtue signaling.

Talk about a parrot being repetitive. Hate filled Marilyn Fentoon concentrates on ME (I’m flatttred!) because his beloved podiatry is a quack failure in the world of TRUE DOCTORS. Despite numerous rational explanations he eschews the facts and like the FEMALE AFFECTION he assumes, strikes out emotionally. As a RETIRED (for decades) LICENSED foot technician I have STANDING giving my opinions. Furthermore, as stated previously, IT IS A STATE REQUIREMENT to attend “x” # of hours per registration period NOT PODIATRY’S. So, I AM NOT SUPPORTING PODIATRY per se but FOLLOWING STATE LAW! As for lengthy “proclamations”(?) that’s because Barry… Read more »

Great summary Seth! To quote Albert Einstein “we can not solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”.

Not today. I’m going to take the day off comparing Seth Minsky getting a job in Florida or Podiatrist Ian Barron owning “GENTLE” foot care or Richard Rettig talking about slippers around the house and differing with the consensus of lifers that said the pandemic increased foot pain but he says he hasn’t seen it. (typical podiatric confusion). I’ll let you compare PERVERT BARRY BLOCK’S DESIRE FOR SHOE PICTURES FEATURING A “BLOCKY” RED SHOE. NO, THAT’S THE BAD SIDE OF PODIATRY. THAT’S the original NYC idea of the cutesy foot BUSINESS I’ll eschew. Instead, I want to mention Larry Di… Read more »

What happened to 2020 “disease” for 2000 imbeciles to attend? It magically went away–Great Barrington Declaration. Unless it was N95, it was simply theatre for the masses of asses

600 applicants to all the school? That’s high, LOL. The new APMA ads that advertise you can pick a sub specialty in Podiatry. wow. really digging deep to get students. Follow the natural course statistically and Podiatry will have to close some schools soon. I bet the universities that thought they would make a killing by having a Podiatry school on campus are having serious second thoughts.

Only the GOOD die young. The BAD seem to go on and on. Block is in his seventies and still accumulating money. Maybe he was taught that you have to BUY your way into heaven.

Ever notice the DISCLAIMERS at the bottom of some ads? They usually say something to the effect of, “only at participating franchises”. That’s what’s going on in podiatry. No central core because each school, each state, each organization is an INDEPENDENT FRANCHISE with it’s own owners and controllers. Some states like Ohio let guys be “a little loose”. A touch of leg, a little soft tissue of the hand. Then there are states like the New York Franchise. Big narcissistic controllers who’ll turn you in like a Duetsche quisling if you touch an ankle or have non approved wording on… Read more »
