Let’s be perfectly honest about this. Look at the big mouth people who have the most to say about killing off the surgical boards and having everyone qualified under this so-called podiatric medical boards. So you have Alan Sherman, you have Jeffrey Robbins, and you have the idiot, Jarod Shapiro, from the practice perfect world. We’ve also heard from people who are trying to create separate certification in wound care such as Warren Joseph. So here is my question for all of these people who have the most to say. What do you know about private practice? None of you have ever been accomplished in any type of significant surgery. This doesn’t make you better or worse than anyone. But the fact is none of you have established any credentials whatsoever in the world of surgery. Worse than that, you have either not ever been in actual private practice or were in private practice and failed miserably. You are individuals who make your money sucking off of the world of foot doctors by being so-called consultants and lecturers. You are not actually treating patients in a real world private practice situation. In any event, it is disheartening to hear people who do the least and yet think they should say the most about our board certification process. The fact is that people graduating today’s programs are surgeons. They are surgically trained. And what exactly is the medical board? You’re not practicing medicine. You are and were only practicing chiropody. You are trimming nails and taking care of skin and nail problems. You are treating heel pain. You were giving some injections. Exactly what medicine are you practicing? Do you believe that picking at ulcers is practicing medicine? You are people that, quite frankly, the new generation has no respect for because you actually do nothing but suck money off of them and try to make rules to force them to somehow empower and enrich you. Frankly you are the last people we want to hear from. You know nothing about real world podiatry. You are completely out of touch with the education of today’s residents unless you count the party that Presents throws in order to suck money out of corporations and pretend that somehow they are truly leaders in education. Maybe you should change your name to Pretends rather than Presents. At least with the surgery boards you are ensuring that people are qualified to perform advanced reconstructive procedures and treat patients with significant deformity, trauma, and disease. What exactly are you treating when you test for the medical board? That swollen big toe might be gout ? That the yellow toenail might not be a fungus? That you need to take x-rays on every fat person who’s heel is painful to rule out an occult tumor? What exactly are you testing for? You are not practicing medicine, you are practicing chiropody. Biomechanics? Exactly what theory are you practicing? You have half a dozen or more wack jobs running around lecturing on their own theories of biomechanics, none of which have ever been proven or researched. Give me a break. Medicine? Why not just call it what it is. Chiropody. You are the same group of morons who are calling for separate certification in diabetic foot care. So obviously that is not part of medicine. Differential diagnosis of warts? Why not just go ahead and take the same test you have to take in order to be a pedicurist. After all, that is all most of you actually were if you ever practiced at all.

“If anyone has any ideas about what I can do”…… Well, Traum, like Barry Block, who DOESN’T GIVE LEGAL ADVICE THEN GOES ON TO GIVE LEGAL ADVICE. Slippery& untrustworthy statements aren’t beneficial. We can’t help you. Isn’t that double talk, lying, deferring, sentiment typical of a nerdy podiatric-lawyer? Who gave that jerk attention? Walking the fence, taking no stand, just keeping the status quo as long as HE SELFISHLY DOES WELL HIMSELF; further typical of podiatry. It’s, what’s in it for me? Who can I eliminate by turning them into a Board? How can I ADVANTAGE MYSELF AT THE DISADVANTAGE… Read more »
Thanks R. Will keep stating reality, and the (not so) obvious to the 98.7% dumber than stale dog shit dp wtfs: Gong show podupetry already. It’s like pushing a corpse. Or trying to sell buggy whips (CP). Antiquated, not needed, ancillary, redundant, like a screen door on a submarine, etc….If one has $300,000+ in non-dischargable stupe dent (E) loans, then what can one do with a non translatable dp wtf “degree”. DPM –that red squiggly is showing up again. Even spell-chk does not recognise podupetry. May try writing a bk about the sex lives of dp wtfs–detritus, plastic inserts and… Read more »
As for another commentary abt the american decline, and/or podupetry, which was of course, a microcosm of the us empire, I dunno gents. Really, what else is there to say, that I already haven’t? Besides, america and/or podupetry was a boring topic by now, and quite depressing, or invigorating–depending on one’s level of reality avoidance. It’s imploding on a daily basis–you guys continually post great evidence of this–and all I can tell anyone living in the US is, Hit the road! Those 3 words are all any realist needs to know at this point as it will only get worse.… Read more »
FACE REALITY>>>>> Podiatry is one GIANT Xerox machine…copying everything MDs do but not having the full licences nor the qualifications to do so. But time is up ! DPM world is obsolete with NPs and PAs taking over. DPM egos think they cant but they are doing so as we post. PROOF>>> 9 schools for DPM, less than 750 applicants to all 9 schools……end of ball game.
They would have a better shot at success if they went to tRump U.
Paging T for a take on this topic-
The absurdity of podo BOARD certification serves to further marginalize the the field. NONE of the so-called training programs are ABMS recognized boards allow DPMs to wholly treat the patient, none expands scope of practice, and none do more than add unrecognizable letters behind a pods name. Oh, you get to pay dues and take tests. As mentioned by the editor, does a pod certified nail nipper, skin scraper, wound picker have any greater capability to address the handful of foot issues? Maybe podo board certified pods use the ‘credential’ to satisfy hospital hoppers to scrub in, or sit on… Read more »
Well! that put the foot technician trade in perspective to those outside the field. Now they see what a disorganized mess podiatry is and that “boards” are used for EXCLUSION perhaps more than competence. To MD’s, boards mean one thing. I’d let that guy check out my kid before someone else. Wound boards and the “so called” medical boards are BUSINESS IDEAS. Designed to technically allow insurance payments and “some kind of a title” so that the WTF-ONLY CERTIFICATE isn’t allowed to be examined by itself. Say what you want about the 3 yr and ABFAS. THERE IS VARIABILITY IN… Read more »
Good one R. Then again, it’s about the `Prestige’, a mid 17th century definition (in the sense ‘illusion, conjuring trick’): from French, literally ‘illusion, glamor’, from late Latin praestigium ‘illusion’, from Latin praestigiae (plural) ‘conjuring tricks’. The transference of meaning occurred by way of the sense ‘dazzling influence, glamor’, at first depreciatory. Prestidgitator=Sleight of hand, magic tricks, parlor games, and the WTF motto: FTP, Fool the Public. Akin to dentistry, use of your hands, fine motor skills are perishable skills which somewhere in our fifties diminishes. I couldn’t honestly scrub in for a bowel resection and stand on my feet… Read more »
Podiatry was to medicine, as the accordion was to the symphony orchestra. Respectively disagree Eddy. No one with a straight/honest face can say dp wtf school was doctoral level. Intellectually honest folks know dp wtfs are NOT doctors in any real sense.
Love the metaphor of the octupus and the shark R. Also, am done “debating” typical (98.7%) dp wtfs, or for that nebulous “change” or someday if this/if that/we must/we should happy talk delusions. That was a severe mental derangement–psychosis, loss of contact w/reality. It was as if we were speaking with the leaders of the flat Earth society. Nothing will penetrate their cognitive dissonance and/or mental illness. Let the flat Earthers believe the someday talk and the deluded action plans of hamstering to oblivion. It buys them time, and more importantly, continues to line their hu$tler pockets by selling false… Read more »
Problem is without board certification many podiatrists can’t get on hospital staff and have insurance rejection
Hmmm… let’s see. Residencies and board certification that’s not recognized by the ACGME. Soon, when Medicare pulls the plug from podiatry, the hospitals won’t be able to charge a facility fee for a non-par dokter. Good-bye from our staff, Mr. Dr. Poddy. What will board certification mean then? Nada.
Mr. Sybly
I once heard Barry Block interviewed by Bret Ribotsky on the now defunct Meet the Masturbater show. At the time Barry was playing with his penis. Barry said, “what we do we do better then anyone else. We do total contact casting and offloading.”
Nice blog Seth. Well said and how true !
