The dirty podiatrists were jealous that they didn’t get the BUSINESS AND WANTED TO TAKE OUT THE COMPETITION. Though not typical, it is NOT UNREASONABLE TO AMPUTATE vs. doing major 1st ray reconstruction, plating, casting etc. when the main problem is painful overlapping toes. The chance for complications (depending on age and co- morbidities’) is greater the more you do.
