That is good he didn’t get into the Podiatry colleges, the empty clinics and the poor 4th year or lack of rotations. vs Medical Schools and the academic hospitals they are affiliated with. He also could have compared GPAs and MCAT scores.

The only ones who need to know the difference between a podiatrist and an MD orthopod are the “Lifers” and “practice management” type of podiatrists. They’re just WILLFULLY blind to their limitations. Normal podiatrists KNOW THEIR LIMITATIONS. They accept their medical school rejection and do the best they can with a limited license and limited medical training. Like the MD said, He’s trained in everything. Podiatrists are just trained in limited foot and some ankle. He was clear that podiatrists REMAIN LESS COMPETENT IN ANKLE CASES THAN ACTUAL DOCTORS. Robert, do you really think if podiatric medical colleges increased their curriculum and training to equal that of a medical student that the colleges would be able to grant an MD degree to its graduating students? My guess is if this happened to every podiatric medical college there would be no more podiatric medical schools. What would eventually happen to the APMA and state societies? Less need to advocate politically increase scope of practice.

Though the MD is the GOLD STANDARD AND THE ACCEPTED AUTHORITY, a dpm with a Plenary License would become similar to the D.O. degree. The D.O. is becoming known and accepted by the public. I’d say about 80%. So, the need to change the degree is SECONDARY to changing the education that changes the scope. Why should ANYONE CARE about what happens to the APMA OR STATE SOCIETIES? (except those who make a living off them) Perhaps, if podiatry quack colleges BECAME FULLY LICENSED EDUCATORS, the term “MEDICAL SCHOOL” would be honest instead of just hyperbolic rhetoric. The bottom line… Read more »
