Just heard this on the NBC nightly news. 1 MD and 1 PhD were interviewed after they both were told they were going to receive the NOBLE PRIZE IN MEDICINE. The REAL Noble prize not some Barry Block plaque for a made up H.O.F.. Here’s the part that dirty podiatry doesn’t get. The MD said, we went into it (medicine) because of the interest and the curiosity…..NOT THE MONEY. Get that Mr. NON MD? It comes down to a sophisticated form of phycological entrapment. Lifer Peter Harvey analogizes orthotics with orthodontics in his latest fantasy. Yeah. A lot of knowledge and skill is required to use an orthotic. Just ask the people at the good feet store. Harvey (like the invisible rabbit of James Stewart fame) notes the dentist is paid for his knowledge of how to perform orthodontia and understanding the science, not the “wires”. And just whose theory of biomechanics and orthotics should we use ? You see Peter rabbit, orthodontia is an art and science. Podiatry orthotics are a sales pitch and bullshit. The science is like Jimmy Stewart’s rabbit………invisible.
Well, at least I agree with Barry Block. Let me see if I have the statistics correctly. If you are a medical student, you have on average 100 job offers per resident. But if you are a podiatry resident there are 35 total job offers listed in PM Magazine for graduates of the podiatry residency programs. It would be nice if PM Magazine were to publish their (Barry Blocks) conclusion.

Insurance abuse is what kept podiatry alive. Bill for visit. Bill for injection, Bill for what’s IN the injection. Read PM News to see the “creative” ways podiatrists question about how they want to bill. My MD knows very little about billing. He has professionals so he can do what he’s supposed to do… practice medicine. I know few MD’s that don’t do quite well that way.
