Well, hello gang! It’s been awhile, but I’ve been a little busy. At the end of July 2021, I was in a traffic accident. After two months in the hospital and in-pt. rehab I went home to a hospital bed and a WC, among other things, for the next four months. Cut to today, and I’m still recovering, partially disabled, and on disability (every podiatrist’s dream…haha…it’s not all it’s cracked up to be). So I see all you podposters are still here. You may find the u tube programs on PA’s and their getting a DMSc (Doctor of medical science) degree interesting. Also u tubes on PA’s transitioning to MD’s is interesting. I noted one PA saying that after PA school some call their training a “residency” or fellowship but it’s really a POST GRADUATE PROGRAM. I think the foot schools should think about being honest in that PODIATRISTS DON’T REALLY DO A “RESIDENCY” EITHER, BUT A POST GRAD PROGRAM or (if you will) an “APPRENTICESHIP”. I got exhausted just reading what REAL MEDICAL SCHOOLS demand of their applicants. What a contrast with foot schools where merely showing up and being able to afford it is sufficient. It explains the WIDE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PODIATRISTS AND ACTUAL DOCTORS. Those MD’s really are the cream of the cream. Maybe. But the fact that at some point you will be responsible for life and death decisions is a powerful motivator. You have to take the “you” (as in self) out of the process because it’s not about you. This isn’t suggesting that there aren’t a lot of pods who want some parity and maybe some should be given the opportunity, but if chosen, it’s a long, painstaking, unforgiving path that can suck the soul out of you 24/7.
