According to a PM News poll, over 50% of PM News readers who responded to a ridiculous survey want a DPM to be the next APMA executive director. ACFAS has had and continues to have a non-podiatrist executive director. They have grown dramatically. They are the epicenter of podiatry education (such as it is). Their annual meeting far outdraws the APMA. They maintain a credible journal. The APMA ? Diametric for each category. This is a tribute to the total misfit toy readership of PM News. Under Glenn Gastworth and the current executive director both DPM’s, the profession has followed a trajectory of failure. And a percentage of PM News readers shout “thank you sir, may I have another”. Why change a failing course ? School applicants and admissions trend downward. Scams required for practice survival. Residents used as indentured servants. Payments for services declining. A “profession” which describes itself as anything but never the word podiatrist. Yes we need a DPM as the next executive director. Podiatry is the Titanic, and we want a captain to go down with the ship. Iceberg ? What Iceberg ? PM News readers are the passengers. And as they sit in the life boats watching the ship sink, they sing “thank you sir, may I have another”.

I feel bad, and can relate to, the GOOD PODIATRISTS. They are probably the ones who should have (and wanted to) go to MEDICAL SCHOOL. They brought their passion for medicine and academics to podiatry hoping podiatry would be a second chance, and many of them still practice honorably. But… those dirty podiatrists who were accepted into quack school that wanted a “nice little business” or a title to make “the family proud” have surely rotted the barrel, especially in the big APPLE. During the investigation, a local man told detectives Lee blamed the doctor for his wife’s death.
In September 2018, CBS13 discovered that Lee’s deceased wife, Bonnie Lee, had been a patient of Shock. She filed a complaint against him with the California Board of Podiatric Medicine after what began as a hangnail turned into a partial foot amputation. Shock was placed on probation in 2016. He surrendered his license in 2018 after another violation in 2016.
