Think about this. One of the most high profile Podiatrists in the country, the freaking star of “My feet are Killing me” thought he could get away with lying about being board certified in ankle surgery. What is stopping other Podiatrists from doing it???? I mean if a TV Star thought he could slip one by what’s stopping anyone else.
Now some of you are saying hospitals will check. Yes, they will. But you know who won’t check? Google. Medicine and health care are dominated by Google searches. Are other Podiatrists going to check up on everyone to make sure everybody is using correct credentials? I highly doubt it. I mean this is probably the tip of the iceberg, but if a TV star thought he could get away with it I bet you there a ton of other Podiatrists write now lying and misleading the public on their website about certifications.

My personal opinions are that if 1. Any podiatrist in any state had a license that was limited to performing operating on the bones, muscles or tendons of the feet for the correction of minor deficiencies and deformities of a mechanical and functional nature, and they were able to become board certified in foot surgery in such a state before 1996 2. Such a podiatrist should give full disclosure of such a limitation that existed at the time they may have obtained a lifetime certificate of board certification in foot surgery that might only require self assessment. 3.
