Dr. Eddie Davis has successfully articulated the negligence and failures of the APMA in PM News. He has supported his opinions with factual material. He essentially has ripped the APMA a new asshole. Dr. Davis notes that it is the specialty societies in medicine, not the American Medical Association (AMA), that have advanced various branches of medicine. In podiatry, the only analogous situation is that of ACFAS. In podiatry, unlike our M.D. colleagues, affiliated specialty societies ( eg: ASPS ) mandate that members also maintain APMA membership. ACFAS does not require APMA membership.
The APMA is for all intense and purposes useless. The self serving and self enriching behaviors at the expense of the general membership are well documented. The current executive director allowed insiders from AAPPM to openly market their wares at the APMA National, and state and regional meetings. The development of TALAR Medical through insider trading and the use of APMA funding for marketing and travel to build TALAR Medical is likely. APMA officers routinely become lecturers and consultants for various corporations, while holding few if any academic accomplishments. We probably should establish a Hunter Biden award for APMA corruption. The same insiders are asked to lecture at every meeting, taking in money for lecturing as they have been abject failures in their own practices. The recent requirement for opioid training was just another example in which M.D.’s, D.O.’s, D.D.S.’s, and everyone else was ahead in preparing for this requirement other than the APMA. Reactive not proactive is the mechanism of APMA action. No foresight ever. Podiatry as Dr. Davis notes is paid less than M.D.’s for the same services. There is still a lack of equality for the D.P.M.’s, who live in the Block Fantasy Land that changing the degree will result in an acceptable slight of hand trick fooling legislators and the medical profession. PM News advertises lasers and vitamins and magical shoe inserts while the colleges face the reality of increasingly empty seats. CPME has become a farce, with the opening of unneeded schools and a free-for-all in postgraduate education. Yes Dr. Davis is correct. Barry and the APMA will launch the usual onslaught of tell me it ain’t so diatribes. In the end however, the decreasing membership in the APMA is the RESULT of the total failure of the APMA.

APMA and all the other Pod paganizations have no political power or knowledge about the current state of health care. 15,000 DPMs are just 15,000 DPMs with low IQs and huge egos divided by ACFAS, ABPM and the other 19 Foot organizations divided again by 52% of what a DPM made in 1990 which equals zero income plus huge debt.
