Need help understanding the naming of chemical structure of carboxylic acid vs carbonic acid. The importance of this is when too much carbon dioxide is in water there is a change to carbonic acid and this could then dissociate to have h+. Thus the acid base balance in blood coul be affected. Pedal symptoms could be a result of kidney pathology due to acid base imbalances. This I remember was taught in 1980 podiatric medical school the chemical structures. I just need help understanding the logic of naming such chemical structures. My guess is most podiatrists might be able to… Read more »

PODIATRY will remain a SECOND CLASS trade as long as the podiatrists in it are too insecure and too fearful of additional education and responsibility.

This timidness is fertile ground for shrewd avaricious, narcissistic, podopoliticians as proven by podiatry’s long history of subservient governance.

Men of this temperament are so spineless they deserve the title, dirty profession. I’m ashamed to be around such a dirty lazy group of “men”.

Its been a while since a college student came to my office to ask about Podiatry. This young man just finished 2 interviews at two of the Podiatry schools. He got accepted at both. You think Podiatry school is better than a foreign med school? then answer this, why don’t Podiatry schools have rotations 4th year in ACGME hospitals but the foreign schools do, why are each Podiatry schools curriculums different? why can’t Podiatry school get rotations in any hospital?and most of all , why aren’t student applying to Podiatry school?

Despite record-high applicant participation, the match rates for U.S. citizen and non-U.S. citizen IMGs remained steady with less than a one percentage point difference from last year, 67.0% and 58.5%, respectively.” This I believe is such a low match rate to have more than 30% of foreign medical students unmatched. Many of the “unmatched are “English as a second language” Indian or middle eastern students coming from countries where you go to graduate schools after a High school type education. You need to compare similars with similars Mr. Chaskin.

Once again, Even if you have a 50/50 chance that’s better than a 0% chance to get an ACGME program with a dpwtf certificate! (and further more, with a Carib MD, ANY foot school would gladly accept you in a “modified program” and you’d probably be put on the faculty at the same time!)

Even if you do not factor for variables (like English as a second language, being a U.S. citizen etc.) and if you accepted the NON CORRECTED 30% rejection rate, that still means you have a 70% chance of a REAL U.S. ACGME residency. It is difficult to earn a living as a podiatrist. This is why another source of income could be used to support a podiatry practice that is failing. Even if a podiatry practice is failing a podiatrist could consider the advantages of getting money from social security or another source so one could qualify for membership to join the APMA and state societies.

A DPM could be competent ordering lab tests as a physical exam for podiatric symptoms.

First of all podiatrists can order lab tests to rule out systemic causes for podiatric symptoms. For example edematous feet may be present and a podiatrist orders labs to rule out kidney pathology as a cause. If a renal impairment is revealed a podiatrist can refer the patient to a nephrologist and for a return visit to monitor the foot edema
As well as for future monitoring by podiatrist.
Podiatrists can become more knowledgeable about
Reviewing blood tests.

Both internists and podiatrists can perform physical evaluations for systemic conditions and refer to specialists for those conditions
For patients presenting with foot edema and other podiatric symptoms. I would write this as a response and copy the state definition of the scope of practice of a podiatrist and forward it to any insurance company that questions this
Physical examinations which includes blood work ups.
Internists treating conditions they do not specialize in is problematic if appropriate referrals to specialists are not made.
Internists and podiatrists are similar regarding the scope to perform a physical evaluation in the presence of podiatric findings.

I remember During freshman year at NYCPMA in 1980 we were told to purchase an ophthalmoscope taught about the red reflex and examining vascular structures.
However I personally prefer a dermatoscope
Regarding examining vasculitis.
Toenail vascular structures also can be examined to rule out vascular structures
When dealing with a podiatric foot sign or symptom of a positive collagen vascular disease or even possibly a pedal manifestation of COVID.

There is a cultural cult out there that teaches you that, if you repeat nonsense, or repeat a lie long enough, good meaning, sane people will fatigue and begin to question the truth. They have to, because it goes against common sense. They tend to congregate in groups outside the mainstream, thinking they’re special, or that they have some special revelation or intuition. You’ll find such personalities in the APMA, the lifer groups, and in PM News. They… Read more »
