Can Podiatry survive without a Vaccine?

Podiatrists probably think the worst is over for COVID 19, but without a vaccine can Podiatry remain a viable profession? Sure telemedicine is nice but it is not going to pay the bills. Podiatry needs to do surgical procedures but if hospitals have to shut down elective procedures every other month for Coronavirus outbreaks it will not be possible to maintain a functional surgical practice.

Eventually the cost of COVID will start to impact insurers and Medicare. What happens then? What is cut? Whose reimbursement suffers? Probably the $200 ingrown toenail and $70 Nail debridement might be first on the chopping block. Podiatry is at a crossroads and the only thing that can save it is a functional COVID 19 vaccine.

Look to the people, said H.L. Mencken, Cleveland Moffat, Sacvan Berkovitch, Walter A. McDougall, George Carlin, Gore Vidal. That’s where you’ll find the core of our failure as a nation including podupetry.

DPM land is dead…look at the low applicant pool. The did it to themselves. oh those lower extremity reconstructive surgeons….from the NON acgme hospitals, not recognized by medical community

podiatry IS more of a manual Trade than an academic profession. It’s just a Job for most non MD’s. and they seem to like it that way. There is certainly little clamor for change in clinical education to make it equivalent to a DOCTORS (md’s) so it’s clear podiatrists enjoy their secondary, minimal responsibility, potentially lucrative, JOB.

It’s comforting in a way that what we have been talking about for years is coming to pass. Sad, but coming to pass. Preventable, like most of the covid carnage. I’d say I felt sorry for all of those who thought we were the insane ones, but no. They made the choice. They drank the Kool-Aid. And now like the crazed ship captain they’re plotting their next course as the ship is going down.

Thanks for your insight Greg! Podiatrist powers that be practice insanity doing same thing over and over expecting different results!! (Thanks to Albert Einstein quote).

Have you ever “lost your marbles”? I mean literally drop a bag and have them bounce and spill in every direction? Well that’s how I feel about today’s Block head podiatry news. It’s a mixed up set of issues bouncing and spilling all over. Many many issues all political, power and pecuniary. Let’s try to pick of the podiatric spillage. Podiatrist Satterfeld is excited about her 50 customer-student freshmen. She’s setting the barbed hook with the White Coat Ceremony brainwashing trick. Perhaps the country is becoming wise to the podiatric CON because there are few customers applying to foot college.… Read more »

Scrolling through the posts gotta wonder if there is any ‘elixir’ for the P—I suppose the poor leadership, repetitive continuing education contributes—some continuing education—as in ratatata of the same of same. NOT fitting in? More along the lines of not fitting in, or trying too hard to fit in…hey clown suits are out of style (if they ever were outside Barnum Bailey Circus). The ‘vaccine’ would be reinvention and education—not litigation. T’s post (as usual) is reflective and informative, R is always coming up with something new “triangular certificate”—UROPASIAC…The title: ‘Can Podiatry survive without a Vaccine?’—The pod leaders are crafty… Read more »

That’s why the new yaaaek Shylock team is uniting with an Israeli school to get warm asses to fill the seats and fuel Levine’s Levie Shartpiro and Bergfarts retirements. Shysters all.

PICA. Putting its thumb up it’s ass and saying what a good boy am I. Another seminar with Jim Christina’s first love Jeff Lehrman. The same talk from him at meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting after ………… you get the idea. When practice gets slow, it’s nice to have friends in the APMA and PICA and TALAR to throw you a check. The same lecture again. How to charge an office visit when cutting toenails or calluses. Nothing has changed. If you do not understand this by now you never will. How many times must you hear the… Read more »

Uroposiac! You got me. I found “Uropod” (ironic for podiatry!): an appendage of the UROSOME (abdomen) of an arthropod, and some terms referring to urination but not that one exactly. Man I’m uneducated. (esp. after P school) straighten me out so I can apply to the board of podiatric UROLOGY. Hey why not? Podiatry has boards SELLING CERTIFICATES all over the place.

Uroposiac.
One who enjoys engulfing urine.
As for board certification in Podiatric Urology, no problem. On receipt of your $200. check you will be mailed a certificate suitable for framing. There you see. The same credentials as the rest of podiatry. The American Board of Podiatry Urology (ABPU).

Too bad Earl Horwitz did not think of this before me.

Podiatry was irrelevant. It created needs and made up opportunistic/artificial “diseases” and ailments to dupe the public. The ambiguity of real doctor and dp wtf was intentional and well orchestrated. The blurry lines of “doctor.” The so called, “residency,” not. The AMA, ACGME, ABMS do NOT recognize podiatry as a speciality nor as a residency program. Simply, post grad training from a podiatry training school. Read it, and then weep to reality. Podupetry could go away tmrw, and who really would give a rip, other than dp wtfs. Would the moronic us masses riot in the streets (shadow boxing/masturbation/theatre–think us… Read more »

Traum, you’ve encapsulated it in a nut. If a podiatrist was still free thinking and honest he would rebel or leave. Podiatry was a clever con that made some mediocre men make money beyond their Peter Principle. THAT is what keeps podiatrists BEHOLDING to the cult. I believe many know they’re better off charging fees for feet than “whatever other job” their mediocre mind could achieve otherwise. Give them a “taste” of the good life and you can lead men around by the nose. Real Pscyh. Operations going on in podiatry.

Wait a second. Not every podiatry society charges dues for podiatrists to join. For example the speakers at the last meeting I heard and the information presented was informative. I especially liked listening to the speaker regarding podiatry scope of practice. Have PodiaTrust in the PodiaTrust group. Free membership. The downside is during this pandemic all in person meetings are cancelled.
