Can a Podiatrist be sued for malpractice for spreading the Coronavirus?

Can a Podiatrist be sued for malpractice for spreading the Coronavirus?

This is an interesting question, as Podiatrists across the country continue to see patients despite quarantine and all available medical knowledge indicating that is a bad idea. The question is if you spread it to a patient would that be considered malpractice. My guess is yes, it would be but I doubt anyone would sue you over it.

It would be hard to prove that patient acquired Coronavirus from a Podiatrist’s office unless it was an outbreak that could be traced back to a Podiatrist. If that were the case your worry would not be civic liability it would be criminal. So yes in theory you could be sued for a patient catching Coronavirus at your office. The fact is it probably would never happen.

To Eddy’s thought. Podiatrists think a drop of blood starts in the big toe and (in some states) goes up to the Malleoli then recirculates. The PODIATRIC CIRCULATORY SYSTEM IS A CLOSED SYSTEM ISOLATED AWAY FROM THE PROXIMAL CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. THERE IS NO REASON TO STUDY ANYTHING MORE PROXIMAL. PODIATRIC DISEASE IS FOOT DISEASE AND FOOT ANATOMY. NO ONE KNOWS THE FOOT LIKE A PODIATRIC “physician”. The LIFER’S tell us so and they are the supreme intellects of the trade because they can touch the “rear” foot. The PEAK of podiatry is the BOTTOM of MEDICINE.

YES THE DIRTY BUSINESSMEN IN PODIATRY WON’T MISS A BEAT OR A BUCK. You’re right. Alan Sherman hypes his BUSINESS, Presents. God knows he doesn’t want to go back to feet when he CAN SELL OTHERS LECTURES AND BE A MIDDLE MAN. Look at podiatrist Brandwein. What is that? A selfie in a scrub suit or did he just get done disinfecting the hospitals floors with the housekeeping staff? Of course, money loving Block and Branwein don’t correct the LIE THAT HE’S A BOARD CERTIFIED SURGEON “SPECIALIZING IN PODIATRY” Yeah, after his 6 year Thoracic surgery residency “he chose” podiatry,… Read more »

Not “If and When”, just “If”. Wouldda, couldda, shouldda. Just like the shitstorm that’s going to hit all of us in the next week or two. If someone gets an ingrown, let ’em go to the nearest Urgent Care where they’ll be txed by real medical personnel.

Barry Block ping pong. You want to know how dirty Barry Block is. Look at the obvious self serving drooling dog Jeffrey Kass and Alan Sherman. It’s more obvious than Donald Trump’s dementia. So here is Kass a Presents goodfellow. He waxes poetic about the need for online CME. Hey, by coincidence Presents does that. And he is tied into Presents tighter than Jeff Lehrman is to Jim Christina behind closed doors. Then Sherman writes a self serving epistle congratulating Kass on his insight. And drops one in the suggestion box; while you’re sitting around corona unemployed, tune in to,… Read more »

So long as the topic relates to the foot, I believe it is a positive development to
be able to have a way to renew a license for free. Why should any podiatrist
have to spend money to renew their license?
Any opinions from Seth are appreciated.

How many conditions DO NOT relate to the feet? Lung disease-cyanosis, behavioral issues, diabetes, neurological anomalies, clotting disorders, ophthalmologic, hematologic, rheumatoid, mechanisms of action of meds, infections, C. diff, etc + all infectious conditions, dermatologic condns. IMPACT the taking of a good history and exam scrupulously questioning about comorbid states–If a disease entity exists the likelihood it has an effect on feet is great. The unwillingness to look above the ankle for —Anything which can impact neuromuscular microvascular states will absolutely relate to feet. Regarding communicating with MD/DOs pods NEED to be competent in discussing drug history, interactions, reactions, BUT…pods… Read more »

That depends on how many AMA Cat I and II credits are allowed by your state. I imagine you’ll have to take at least some of your credits as useless poddy CMEs.

So, do we finally have a consensus? PODIATRY DOES NOT HAVE NOR EVER HAS HAD ANY SIGNIFICANCE IN MAINSTREAM MEDICINE EXCEPT TO ACT AS “CATCH BASIN” FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL REJECTS AND TO ALLOW SAID REJECTS A WAY TO MAKE LIVING WITH AN UNDESERVED TITLE. I have not yet seen the APMA OR LIFER COMMUNITY come up with a RATIONALIZATION FOR PODIATRY IN A CRISIS. I’m sure they’ll come up with a doozy. The CON WAS HIT HARD BY THE REALITY OF PODIATRY VALUELESSNESS, so they’ll have to “plug the dyke of TRUTH”. Block is already carrying that “water” on his… Read more »

SO, my dear lifer and APMA friends. How do you explain that “PHYSICIAN” moniker you clinged to, stood by, and defended? How about that “we sat in the same class room with REAL medical students line, and the “we’re just like” line. (remove the “n” from line) WELL, REALITY IS HERE. MISTER CORONA VIRUS PULLED YOUR LYING (pants on fire!) DOWN and showed the community your bent peeper. YOU ARE NONE OF THE ABOVE, YOU EUNICH OF MEDICINE!! YOU ARE JUST AN UNEMPLOYED ANCILLARY FOOT TECHNICIAN WITH NO PLACE, NO VALUE, NO TRAINING, NO RECOGNITION, AND NO LICENSE TO DO… Read more »

Podiatry was a scam. A big bad flim flam man. You got Hip to the jive when you were 65, barely stayed alive, hustling, bustling, upselling the tea tree oil cream, Life was a bad dream. Lotions potions, bullshit galore. The type of degree the MDs abhore. So keep smilin, shinin, and fillin out all those forms. Enjoy that 1000 bucks PRE tax.

When Zip Nipgil, DPM sneezed on the mayonnaise drenched lateral boarder of Mrs. Hootnanny’s big toe she dropped a payload of watery stool on the shiny Ritter. Zip often would pick up tiny packets of condiments at the grocery store up the way at the strip mall, and on a slow day slip one out of his pocket and dab a few drops on a digit way down on the digit – Zip Nip is what—few if any—called him, as in: “Hey Zippy Nipples how’s tricks?” To which Dr. Nipgil would shrug, and say: “Go look me up on ProPublica… Read more »

Medical students are helping in various countries: retired docs, nursing students, etc…etc….what can pod stupe dents (CP) do, or pods for that matter, other than donating their bodies as a cadaver for anatomy class? (CP). Maybe take some pictures of them in bullshit news smiling as they pass water out to marathon runners or man the blister tent?! Pods were basically f-ing useless (or very low value) except as middle men skimming money. They WERE the realtors of health care. When all else fails–there was real estate “agent” and podiatry. Opportunists and hustlers vying for relevance that never existed.
