Coronavirus has lead to a reduction in visitors into Nursing Homes and long term care facilities, due to the fact that if the Coronavirus were to get into a Nursing home it would devastate the community and kill a high percentage of their residents. As for right now Podiatrists are not seeing patients in Nursing homes. The fact is it maybe a while, if ever, that Podiatrists are let into Nursing Homes again.
The fact is Podiatrists in nursing homes see a high percentage of patients there. What happens if one acquires the Coronavirus? What would this lead to? Mass infection. Also there are no precautions a Podiatrist is going to be able to take that are going to prevent further infections. The answer a lot of Nursing Homes will come to is have a nurse that works there perform the services. The fact is Podiatrists that are primarily in nursing homes may not be getting back in and should hope that doesn’t occur.
