Another APMA Traveling Circus

Another APMA Traveling Circus —— two weekends in a row !

Well the APMA circus has traveled this week to Florida, home of the Scientific and Management Symposium (SAM).There will be no science to be found.   But there will be management (ie. they manage to take your money).Perhaps SAD would represent a far more accurate description.
The meeting opened with a biomechanics discourse by Ed Gazer.  I believe the topic was mass hysteria. Or perhaps he suffers from mass hysteria.
Jeffrey Lehrman and Warren Joseph, fresh from the New York NYSPMA show, were of course at SAM picking up money. Jeff Ross was there.  Marlene Reid lectured. And of course the cadre of APMA freeloaders also treated themselves to Orlando on your dime. In other words, there was more than one Mickey Mouse organization in Orlando this week. What The Hell you say.  If the SAM meeting is that bad (and it is) why do Florida pods attend ?Simple actually.  It’s the APMA in action.  They force you to attend.

They limit a Florida podiatrist to 8 CME hours virtually.  They present courses which are mandatory to attend. Topics that can “only” be presented by the FPMA.  No one else can present these lectures. Lectures like disinfection of your chiropody instruments.  It’s a dirty scam.  It’s a shitty meeting.  Shitty FPMA

Glanced over the student foot tech site and found that podiatry is still a joke and a fraud. The students were discussing the APLME 2 EXAMS and said it was “JUST A MONEY GRAB” CONTROLLED BY THE APMA AND CPME. The crooks are getting at the students earlier and earlier. One student said, about the exam, there was no medicine, little surgery, HEAVY ON BIOMECHQUACTICS and some pathology that WAS NOT PERTINENT TO WHAT WE DO. Another student mentioned that the Part 2 exam was HEAVILY CURVED FOR SCHOOLS TO INFLATE THE PASS RATE SO IT COULD AIDE IN RECRUITMENT (of… Read more »

Often when “one” retires, quits, changes profession, or path the REMOVE ANY TRACE OF HAVING been podiatric. The failed dream fades, and any triggers that remind them of the P send them into a spiral of anxiety, despair, and projectile vomiting. So tell one and all why anyone who has removed themselves from the would even consider donating to a lost cause? Perhaps a better idea is to not get $350 in debt for a dpm degree and get a NP degree instead.
Perform routine foot care as a nurse as well as treat the ankle which is prohibited for many NY podiatrists.
If one already has a DPM degree a NP degree might provide greater anatomic scope.

A dpm might find the RN program a challenge. They do and learn real medicine there. They’re the real thing not imposters like foot technicians who call themselves doctors.

Podiatric medical school. This I believe should prepare a podiatrist for practicing podiatry.
Please understand foot conditions are important to be treated.
But how can someone have the highest possibility to treat the ankle in states such as NYS?
If one goes to nursing school, they do not need board certification, or residency training to treat the ankle. So if a college graduate wants to treat the ankle, why not get a nursing degree and ultimately get a nurse practitioner degree?

The state society has helped a few podiatrists in NYS get ankle permits. We should pay dues to the APMA and nyspma to show our happiness that a few podiatrists or a minority of podiatrists were helped by the ankle law.

My opinion I believe the NYS law allows a podiatrist with a psr 24 to convert their certificate into a pmsr So that the “new residency certificate can qualify for a NYS ankle permit so a podiatrist can obtain training needed to treat the ankle. This way a podiatrist does not have to obtain a nursing degree to treat the ankle. Robert, you do not have a clue about me. If someone cannot afford to pay for care, one is suppossed to treat them anyway if possible. Don’t put it past a dirty podiatrist to bill for anything. One quack wrote into Barry

As a DPM (who broke from the con and became an MD) perhaps the rationale of podoquackery has become distant. That is, … First, make money, even if that “medicine” stuff gets in the way. As YOU know, medicine was began as a humanistic endeavor. Podiatry started as a BUSINESS endeavor.
