Cost of Podiatry college ( its not Podiatric Medical School) around 200K + cost of undergrad + low pay for THREE years of pseudo -residency = BK. the numbers do not work as they did 15 years ago. With little to no rotations in hospitals available for POD students…you probably can do all 4 years on line at home. For residency…go to nursing homes and convince 85 year olds they need their hammer toe done.

I participated in a podiatric residency program as an attending podiatrist. Not only did I scrub and assist cases with podiatric residents, I booked cases and was assisted by other attendings and podiatric residents as part of my in hospital training and or experience.
Had I not finished the fine education from NYCPMA, I never would have gotten my in hospital training and or experience.
Being an “attending” without a program only magnifies why MD’s consider podiatry inferior and PROVES podiatric education is DISIMILAR TO MD EDUCATION. Being “called” an attending vs. being an “actual” attending is an example of a rhetorical podiatric CON.

Talk to me a graduate of PODIATRY school in 2020..clinics have no patients, there are no core rotations like medical school, residency programs are not ACGME and you only get a limited license.Also spend big money for phoney board certification, questions on procedures you and 95% of Podiatrists do not do. My opinion Actually in NYS the scope change only helped a minority of members regarding the scope to perform ankle surgery in NYS such as removal of melanoma in situ on the ankle. This is why it is important to pay dues so a minority of members can benefit by being able to perform ankle surgery such as removing melanoma in situ from the ankle. 1. First of all, I consider it a pleasure to be a member of the APMA and state society. I cannot imagine any non member ever being ignored or censored. How could this even be possible? The APMA and state societies are out to listen to us and not to censor us. 2. Please list all the legislative accomplishments the APMA has done on its own, do not include APMA signing on with other organizations. 15,000 DPMs do not have the legislative power to accomplish anything.
