The affiliation of the AAPPM with Presents is a marriage made in heaven.
Increasingly, the activities of board members and officers of AAPPM been
exposed. Increasingly, we have seen less and less input of the AAPPM in
our postgraduate education meetings.
That is of course with the exception of meetings associated with the APMA.
The former scientific director and now executive director makes certain that
they are part of the program.
Increasingly, individuals who were involved with the AAPPM, come to realize
that perhaps this organization does not offer information which is either
useful or schemes which are ethical.
So what is an organization to do? Simple. You go after residents and
students and recruit them early on, at a time they are worried about their
financial future and have no reference point to what is real in practice.
And who better to recruit residents or students than Presents. It is a
hands-down guarantee they will deliver the audience.
There is yet another APMA affiliated organization that has joined with
Presents. Just recently, the self-declared pediatric experts at the APMA
pediatric affiliate (ACFAP) have joined ranks.
Well they say that desperate times require desperate measures.
Our only hope is that the students and residents are smarter than this.
But then again, they may not be. So here is a suggestion. At the annual
APMA meeting, we should add some additional tracks.
This should include tracks on unemployment benefits, tracks on dealing with
your parole officer, and a good dose of Dante’s Inferno.
