There is never going to be one board.
I see the PM news is discussing why Podiatry only has multiple boards and how they all have to unite under one single board. Let me clue everyone in. There is only one board that matters in Podiatry. It is ABFAS. Every other board is meaningless window dressing. It has been like this for the last 15 years and to pretend otherwise is insane. Insurance companies, hospitals ;they only care about ABFAS, so when people write about the need to unite under one board what are they talking about? I have no idea why this is even a discussion. Also, the ABFAS knows they are the only board that matters so I doubt they feel like uniting with anybody. The other boards are either so small or so meaningless I am not sure what their point is. So please can we stop pretending there are multiple boards in Podiatry? There has been one board and it has been that way for the last 20 years.
To Flatus: the rest of the story is simple. I met them at the SHERATON INN in a Buffalo suburb where the local big shot technician was having a sumptuous dinner with the New York City attorney. That has long been one of my complaints. Banning and Censoring is a sign of a WEAK INSECURE PROFESSION. As for the other question, you bring up an interesting point. Yeah, the “surgical” board is all hospitals care about because they can get sued along with you. ‘ ELECTIVE Surgery’ is about the closest a podiatrist will ever come to being a DOCTOR and for having any reason to be in a hospital . That’s why it is the only relevant board. The sad thing is that even the ‘pinnacle of podiatry’ boards is NOT A RECOGNIZED MAINSTREAM AGME BOARD. Podiatry continues to correct the incorrectable.
