Why is MIS making a comeback?

Why is MIS making a comeback?

What is Podiatry’s fascination with MIS? Every decade or so someone decides to reignite it and make it a thing again.  Why is that? Would you rather a patient complain about their bunion scar or the fact their toe is still not straight?  Bunion scars are like 5 centimeters long folks. The idea that these scars are life altering is certainly unique.  MIS is actually developed by general surgeons so for intestinal surgery they don’t make painful scars that can be as long as 2 feet. That is a massive difference.  This idea that patients complain about scars, you know whats the difference? Patients complain about scars; they sue over screwed up surgeries.  You know what causes screwed up surgeries? Half- assing a surgery so you can use a cool marketing term and do the surgery in like 10 minutes.  Wake up Pods. Just do it right.

MIS—minimal intellectual surgery? I just received a case to review from an attorney. The provider buzzed this patient’s bones into oblivion. The post op x-rays were scarier than the thought of an elderly patient trying to walk normally wearing two Moron Balance braces. And this intellect dictated his operative report by dictating anatomical structures that weren’t even in the vicinity of his Shannon 44. And apparently someone forgot to tell me that the ABDUCTOR hallucis tendon (he made it a point to dictate it in capital letters to assure it was the correct tendon) is now on the lateral side… Read more »

Perhaps, another case of: Dumbology— w/Dumbo as its patron saint. Most dp wts were pretty slow-witted bunch; but also, we’re finding, lacking any self-respect or introspection. They debase themselves, keep knocking at the door of this the student delusional site, begging for a hearing, begging for relevance, begging for MIS fascinations, begging for a prize. Frankly, don’t even read their stuff; simply, gloss over just to get the jist of their us faeces. But nothing can stop them, because in the core of their being, they fear (very correctly) that they are nothing; hence, the desperate need to get heard,… Read more »

“Begging for relevance…” T…You clearly have the goods to knock out a decent book. Maybe can help it come alive—so many years, so much material…Words are never lost (maybe it sounds odd,) but why waste wisdom, knowledge, and references that “desperately needs to get heard”—Oh man, I think the putrid dripping eidolon … dig. I’m going to die broke, living under a bridge, (beats a nursing home where some Dumbologist schnides me to a world of stump town. The core of our being is recognized sadly later in life, and like a foul Gummy Bear knocks off an old filling,… Read more »

Ehrenreich described “living” in the us as one long emergency. Would state that podupetry is no different as being a microcosm of the us empire. It’s inspiring, in an odd sorta way, that more than 98% of the country is unable to see what is rt in front of their noses, namely the process of progressive disintegration in which they are living. This is true even for the high-IQ, mainstream (propaganda) “news” paper reading “elite” literate crowd: in terms of common sense, they are dumb as shit. You can say anything by way of criticism (“economy,” sport, neighbors, noise, kids… Read more »

Has anyone ever done MIS that has criticized it?? Seriously. Know that complications can occur in both open and closed but MIS has been very effective too. Not all cases need MIS but not all cases need Open procedures either.

Having a contrarian viewpoint, and-or counter argument backed by evidence/research regarding MIS is not known. anecdotally, it appears that MIS has puff pieces in the ass town tymes, marketing, propaganda, advertisements selling the amazingness with Dr statements regarding its amazingness. Sounds like a script from Eddie Bernays, use an authority figure to sell crapola, (Bernays, chief US propagandist and the reason the lemmings have bacon for bfast and women smoke. Facts/truth doesnt sell, emotions/happiness does.

Flatus, your response was spot on. I’m sure there are some MIS docs doing decent work and not stretching the indications. But as you stated, the vast majority are the charlatans. Advertising this NEW “STATE OF THE ART” procedure. They used to lure in the fools by advertising LASER bunion surgery. They gave that up after getting caught. Now they are all barking about quicker healing. I don’t give a rat’s ass HOW you perform an osteotomy. Bone healing is bone healing whether you use a Hall/Zimmer blade or a 44 Shannon or a Swiss Army knife. And the majority… Read more »

Paul, MIS champions/salesmen were clowns. Everyone has a plan, until they do podiatry.

One time, was traveling with an executive with others. Did not know i was a DP. We passed a strip mall DP WTF shoppe. Boy, something triggered the executive. He said to stay away from those people. The podiatry doctors, theyre worst than chiropractors. The podiatry doctors sell junk and are slicksters. Told us of them trying to con others with Dr titles, leaving out their DP designation, etc.

Well, I hope you corrected his impression of us.

His impression was mainly correct and backed up with evidence. In fact, the rotating foot signs and blinking lights that we passed was downright embarrassing, but par for the DP course. Kinda like an amusement park except it was run by DP WTFS.

Even if podiatry was ‘legit’ or even, ‘good’, why is it our job to correct impressions? Isnt that what all that massively paid/benefitted leaders are supposed to do? Look at the 990s. The former ‘ceo’ was making @500K. Is it not his job to promote podiatry with integrity? Or simply to ride an elevator, fly first class w/spouse, compted eating, and shitting/sleeping in deluxe accomadtion? All for ? DP WTF= ?

Do it right? These clowns don’t give a crap about doing it right. They only care about doing it. Traditional open surgery takes longer. You have to actually understand and respect anatomy and structures. You have to actually perform dissection. You have to actually put in sutures. And so on and so on. INSTEAD you can falsely advertise that your are a PIONEER in MIS. You can falsely advertise it heals quicker. You can falsely advertise YOU invented some Cinderella bunionectomy or some other ridiculous name. You can falsely advertise you are WORLD famous. You can falsely advertise that patients… Read more »

Like everyone is “innocent” in prison, everyone is “world famous”. Talk abt narcopathy and other cluster B mental derangements widely prevalent in the sick care industry.
