How would a recession effect Podiatry

The odds of the US facing a recession are increasing would that be bad news for Podiatry? That is the question, my guess is typically Podiatry can be isolated from a recession but with increased co pays and such one could see Podiatry effected by this recession more than others. But it would be good news for the schools since economic downturns tend to lead to an increase in Applications.

Nothing matters because nothing changes. Tomczak goes on in an unabridged screed that can all be boiled down to this: Podiatry has no real definition because it’s un-needed, un-respected, un-standardized and un-scrupulous. Podiatry has no intrinsic expertise. At best, it poorly copies what MD’s do regularly. All any HONEST person can say about podiatry is that it does well with toenails and arch supports. Once podiatry crosses into medicine or surgery the variability of training and intellect makes podiatry suspicious and possibly even a dangerous endeavor. A generation has passed and podiatry is still trying to find its definition and… Read more »

Robert, Please consider donating to the wonderful APMA organization or state society. Most podiatrists are here to help people with their foot problems. Let’s help each other today and relax together. My opinion is that everyone with any type of swelling in the leg needs to have an MD or practitioner licensed to treat the leg refer the patient for a venous Doppler. ” This is what I posted. It is an opinion. This post implies that a licensed podiatrist has an obligation to prevent thromboembolic disease. Where in Chaskin’s post did he suggest a certified podiatrist has no obligation… Read more »

Mr. Chaskin, Your repetition CRIES OUT: “MENTAL PATHOLOGY! SEE A DOCTOR. REPEATING THE SAME INACCURACIES NEVER MAKES THEM RIGHT EXCEPT TO AN ABNORMAL MIND! YOU NEED HELP, ‘friend’.

Very inspiring to see Robert Fryckberg lecture at Desert Foot. Love it when Barry says “record attendance” but there are no numbers. Hell, I took a record number of piss trips one night when my prostate said hello, and that was 7. Well at least I didn’t break by baby toe going back and forth. Seeing the Robert Fryckberg photo made me think, what were the topics presented (not a play on words) at this fiasco. Some thoughts: 1. How to pay off residents with phony poster awards for using the most dermagrafts; 2. How to have a skin graft… Read more »

Speakers need to disclose conflicts of interests or paid sponsorship. Does fraud at VA matter to disclose?

The constant pictures of Jeffrey Lehrman make me sick. It is the visual confirmation of the abuse of APMA insiders for self enrichment. In the latest insult to the profession, his picture is proudly displayed with an endorsement for TALAR Medical. You will notice that under his photo it states that he is a founding partner of TALAR Medical. Like Krause, DeSantis and the rest, he is making money from this. The question is, were YOU offered the opportunity to invest in this when it began? Was there a podiatry public offering? Did we miss that announcement in PM News?… Read more »

Fraudulent Misrepresentation in Sale of a Practice We bought a practice. Then, once we took over, discovered they had billed inappropriately and documented what they did. It’s in the notes what they did, but they billed fraudulently. Example: Office visit for nail and callus care every 4-6 weeks. We bought the practice based on collections, but we would not have known until we actually saw the patient that the treatments were all billed wrong; so, the cost of practice was inflated and the practice was worth much less. What can we do? Re-negotiate? File a lawsuit? Institute a qui tam… Read more »

If there is a recession, people may restrict seeking unneeded medical care such a podiatry. Especially with big copays.

I FEEL LIKE THROWING UP ! ! I love the way Dr. Ribotsky, assumes in PM News that everyone is familiar with his “injury”. He speaks as though his boat accident ranks up there with the assassination of John Kennedy, the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the first man to walk on the moon. Quite frankly, this is a guy who initiated his own write in campaign to be elected to the PM Hall of Fame. His advice regarding disability insurance says it all. Trimming toenails technically counts as a surgical procedure based on CPT codes. That about says it… Read more »
