I’ve been practicing podiatry in Bergen County, New Jersey for over 20 years now.Let me use my periscope and give you a 300 watt LED spotlight.
Do you want to know what podiatry continuing medical education has become ? Just take a look at the new upcoming seminar by the Academy of Continuing Podiatric Medical Education (ACPME). This group has multiple meetings each year. The meeting is virtual so other than there advertising on PM News there is virtually no cost to running this meeting. Where exactly are the ACPME headquarters? The current headquarters for the Academy is in the wallet of the organizer and the so-called scientific director who just happens to be a member of the council on podiatry medical education (CPME). So let’s look at the program. One of the speakers is Dr. Steve McClain. Obviously, he is hopeful that this will send business to his lab. Next is Dr. Wayne Caputo who is selling Xylazine for wound care. We have Dr. Steve Kravitz selling a new miracle dressing which will use electrical energy to cure wounds. I am sure there is no chance he is a consultant for this company or is being paid to give this lecture by the company making this new product. By the way when is the last time Dr. Kravitz actually took care of patients ? 20 years ago ? 30 years ago ? 40 years ago ? Then we have Dr. Jeffrey Ross. This guy writes to everyone asking to be a speaker and spends his life trying to force himself onto programs. He of course has a nonfunctional M.D. degree to make his mother proud and is lecturing on plantar fasciitis and injured athletes. If you want to know what an injured athlete looks like check out the belly on this guy. Dr. Elliott Udell is lecturing. I guess we do not have to say much about that do we ? Dr. Lawrence Santi another overweight president of the APMA will be lecturing on wound care. This guy is a true intellectual. Just ask anyone who has ever met him or better yet ask some residents who had been sentenced to spend time with him. Dr. Richard Rosen seems to lecture at everyone of these meetings. Who is this guy? Dr. Robert Smith will be giving a lecture on medication effects on wound healing and bone healing. This is a lecture which has been made popular by someone else. Dr. Jim Maguire will be lecturing on harmonizing biomechanical theories which is interesting since he is a wound care doctor at TUSPM. Dr. Lee Rogers who again has never been a successful practitioner or politician or for that matter educator will also be presenting at this meeting. Yes, he is the doctor that wants to give surgical credentials to people that have no business being in the operating room. This is quite a collection of garbage. And it is a guarantee that pathetic people will pay to listen to this group. Somebody should ask where the money goes. And better yet, someone should ask how it is possible that this meeting is accredited for up to 13 hours of CME. But then again this is podiatry in 2024.

“Love” the socks and plastic shit for sale in the foot business. And the cheesy over 1 million toes treated sign on the photoe. Like a fast “food” dump franchise.
It reads like a marketing promo for narcissistic persons.
Podiatric businessmen make podiatry a dirty profession. Looks like Alper hasn’t missed many meals. Podiatry: “it WAS a nice little business”.
Holy feces. Stop eating shit and exercise.
If one still pays dues fees etc to that foot club, they must be brain dead.
or INSECURE ABOUT THEIR TRADE.
“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize” — Voltaire
That guys says it “smartly”
Podiatrists are flip-floppers. if the can’t do surgery, they are wound care experts, if they don’t do wound care they are sports medicine specialists, if they don’t do sports medicine they are orthotics/biomechanics specialists but at the end of the day they all do nail cutting and callus reduction. The one thing that is undeniably true, reimbursement has hit the point that making living in POPO land is extremely difficult..for the honest DPM.
“difficult for the HONEST dpm”. Yup, insecure underpaid foot techs trying to “look just like” have been scamming the codes and their clinical notes for decades and decades.
That very LIMITED LICENSE along with SO MUCH COMPETITION from other sources makes foot teching tough.
Hey! APMA, why does my computer ALWAYS UNDERLINE our BELOVED DEGREE, dpm? Millions of dollars in dues and all forms of stories of how “we’re advancing” doesn’t correlate with reality.
Dear APMA, could you be LYING TO US JUST TO GET OUR MONEY? ( another Rhetorical question about this dirty profession)
The Barry Block arch support believing lazy lifers are miffed. NO ONE is supposed to read our statements and find out that THEY AND PODIATRY HAVE BEEN FRAUDS. So, can they argue the point ? NO! All they can do is a “drive by negative vote”. These are NOT MEN. These are people who have not been able to accept their MEDICAL SCHOOL REJECTION and need A LIE TO KEEP UP THEIR FASCADE. Psychologists and psychiatrists could make a career out of the pathology in podiatric thinking.
Some years ago, Bret Ribotsky claimed he had done over 300 calcaneal fractures. Turns out no residents or doctors down there had ever seen him do one, let alone 300. Now he claims he was always doing skin grafts. Perhaps we should suppose he suffered greater cranial trauma in his boating accident, than all of us suspected. Once you retire, you had done all these amazing things that never happened. We should call it, “doing a Biden” because that is exactly what he is doing. Even his logic is flawed. If a person needs a skin graft, why would you… Read more »
You’re not wrong Rib is/was a total lifer claiming podiatrists were ‘the best’ and just like. An egotists who made grandiose claims because he was not able to recognize reality. A common syndrome in podiatrists..
They are encouraged in their delusion by the APMA, THE BARRY BLOCK PM NEWS PROPAGANDISTS THAT NEED THE DELUSION TO MAINTAIN POWER AND MAKE MONEY/ A PURLEY PODIATRIC SYNDROME. ANOTHER REASON TO SAY PODIATRY IS A DIRTY PROFESSION!
Interesting when he had accident, he had orthopedic do both of his own calcaneal fractures! I guess after three hundred ….
Shoes made out of chewing gum. Pinker and Block letting you know a stable golf shoe is best and De Caro is hawking “Rocking Foot Stretchers on Amazon”. Meislers telling you a concierge practice is not realistic, one guy got a job and another is working in Scouting.
Nope, nothing to see here. It’s a wonderful profession going “all the way”. No need to increase education. Our scope is fine. We’re just as academic and “just like” MD’s. When will the trade get ‘wise to itself’?
Never.
It is amazing how Pinker can bring everything back to shoes. After reading his comments about golf shoes, I doubt he has played much golf. I am fortunate to be able to golf regularly, about 75 rounds per year. I cannot remember the last time anyone complained about their golf shoes. Balls, clubs and poor groundskeeping are the usual complaints. I have several friends that practice barefoot. They claim it helps their foot work. As for the importance of golf shoes, I have had playing partner, throw balls into the woods, toss clubs up in the air and even had… Read more »
Facts are never important to podiatrists. Getting their business ad in is the important thing so they can make money. It’s that NY city thing that still permeates and controls podiatry.
Let’s look at the composition of nyc.
Silly Shoes, special socks, flip flopathies, smelly feet, high heel horrors, hot tar dangers. Diabetic team approach. Limp salvations. Fat feet. Pro athelete fake commentary. Kids book author. Singing pod. Stinking pod. Pod who lives with mommy. Pinocchio whittling diddling. Very important stuff.
PODIATRY was never meant to be actual medicine. Podiatry is a NYC chiropody scion USING simple medicine as a tool to make money. All New Yawkers know that. It was a chance to have a nice little business in Manhattan or the burrows.
Competition for MONEY is keen in New Yawk. Ya gots to have an angle. It’s dog eat dog with 9 million dogs in the pound.
The only real use for dpms is to donate their bodies to the anatomy lab at a real medical school. Might
need special equipment given rampant obesity.
It’s a bad joke Robert. Yet, they still pay dues fees taxes etc etc. For what? It’s the same old faces same last names same pedigrees same ancestries yet nothing changes
Yes, there does seem a commonality in lifers. Somehow they seem to prefer money and power over academics and service. They DON’T BELONG IN ANY HONEST TRUE MEDICAL PROFESSION. They thrive in pseudo, fraudulent, lazy, rigged trades and cannot ever be considered worthy to be around real MEDICAL DOCTORS. Another reason why I’ve stayed away from them. A SKUNK’S defensive mechanism is to throw out a stink to keep competitors away. Similarly, lifers emit such foul, odacieous social and cultural vibrations that they are able to form a cocoon protecting them. Most good, normally adjusted people stay away. Thusly, the… Read more »
Just got an ad from ASPS. They are holding a sales pitch for an unneeded device called Suturegard.
You get one hour CECH to listen.
Thank you for nothing CPME. The best part ?
The speaker is wearing a white coat. Dr. Good luck pronouncing her name.
“Foot and Ankle Surgeon”, it says. Yes sir. She be a surgeon, not a podiatrist.
She be using da Suturegard.
What a sad pathetic profession.
There is that spine, that backbone, the heritage from New Yawk city that podiatry is a BUSINESS. It is tacitly inculcated by those of the same sentiment and has been carried on since l900 to 2024.
The first business of podiatry is business. The MD’S ULTIMATELY have the final responsibility. YOU can count your money and hide behind your LIMITED DPM and “blame the MD”.
I’m only a podiatrists, that’s out of my scope. (said only in court to protect the pod)
Pods are not real doctors. They are podiatrists just like OTs, ODs, DCs, and audiologists. Let’s stop the bs of surgeons, physicians of the foot and sometimes ankle bullshit. How can anyone with a straight face say a 3rd tier college grad with average grades, low MCAT, who went to podiatry school and did an unregulated by MDs post grad watchership is a “surgeon”?! Are they members of FACS ? Most podiatrists are low IQ, money hungry scum bags who’s god is money and consumption. A rotten profession of carnies.
The PTSD of that medical school rejection precludes the lifers from accepting the painful FACTS you honestly present “Losing”
A podiatrist is a podiatrist doctor, or a doctor podiatrist. The word doctor is limited to a states scope of practice. A doctor without any word describing a scope limitation is an unlimited licensed practitioner Foot symptoms need physical evaluations to find the cause of such podiatric symptoms. For example if a podiatrist sees brittle nails, perhaps renal function tests can be done to consider if the kidney is causing abnormal c ium levels. My guess is most podiatrists understand the anatomy of the kidney and nephrons etc… Then refer to a nephrologist and monitor the brittleness of the nails… Read more »
It’s difficult to memorize everything Mr. Chaskin when you are a C student throughout your career. Referring someone to a real Doctor is NOT NECESSARY if the person goes to a REAL DOCTOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. It’s been frequently said that podiatrist “get in the way and delay”. (except for the most minor toenail problems) See an MD first unless you want to buy an arch support or get a trimming. Go to the MD for your problem. If he doesn’t know he’ll refer you to an M.D. in the specialty you need. If he determines your problem is… Read more »

My opinion is that the ACPME seminar is educational as well as elevates my knowledge as well as they care about education. Their fees are reasonable as well as they care about true education which is directly beneficial for our practices.
Your thusly see the type of man in podiatry that make it a dirty profession.
Had a virtual CME course Pri-med Now, AMA Category 1 credits. Plenty of ads, but decent, well done, detailed lectures interspersed with questions, and a test at the end of each course. I can’t imagine a pods teaching pods about general medical topics of relevance in communication with the larger mainstream. Maybe they do, eh, who knows. I don’t know if P boards accept AMA approved courses, even the ones on feet. That’d seem maddening. Pri-med has no fee. Sure there are “theaters” to watch from Big Pharma, but not some weasel selling crap. What was striking today was a… Read more »
EDDY, Even if the MD lectures are free, podiatrists prefer to pay if they can learn a trick that will make them more money. They’d rather read a biomechquactic newsletter from arch support lover Kevin Kirby. Kirby painstakingly tries to explain the obvious, that a high arched foot will more likely cause metatarsalgia than a flat foot because a flat foot distributes the pressure. He pulls out a high school physics equation to make it look scientific. Common sense precludes the pretentiousness of that presentation. Ask any of the INDIAN MD’S. They know it’s easier to sleep on a bed… Read more »
Thanks Eddy. Podiatry recognizes MD CME as secondary to podiatry ones. As if podiatry higher and better knowledge base…..
Yes, pri med is pretty good; it is free if one can hold their nose from all the marketing-propaganda- ads etc.
My brother in law is an MD endocrinologist. For years I ask him, do you guys talk about Podiatrists? In 10 years he says that one speaker in a seminar said, if the nails are long in your diabetic patient, send to a Podiatrist. Thats the proof that DPMs are not part of the diabetic health care team.
Oooh! I can hear the glass shatter in lifer land. We’re NOT seen as “the” specialist of the foot? How long does it take the average pod to figure that out?
Treating toenails is being part of a diabetic foot team. Also if you spend money on dues a state society or division might donate money to students in a podiatry school. Helping pay dues to help podiatric medical students. Helping others This I feel is what podiatry is about. Podiatry students for example need to pay money to learn about podiatric conditions toenail disease Why not spend money to qualify for membership today. One also can have the option of borrowing money to pay for dues. Why not join the APMA and state societies today. Think of all the podiatric… Read more »
Maybe up your dose of Aricept to 10mg from 5mg.Disclaimer I am only podiatrist.
It’s bad enough to be WRONG AND STUPID but when you impose it on others it’s just plain PSYCHO PATHOLOGIC. Mental Illness is too big a part of podiatry.
Another imbecile from new yaaawk new jehwsey
You are not a Doctor who treats medical illness so stop with the BS to make yourself feel better.
You cant read a chest X-ray or EKG and really can’t order it. this is the tip of the iceberg of why your not a MEDICAL doctor. SPeaking of tip, can you redo the big toe nail clipping again, I just felt it and its not short enough ( NOW THATS PODIATRY !)
Like any theivery the thugs take the money and meet at a designated hide out and divvy out the spoils. Podiatry is that NEW YAWK CON that has branched out from a non-compete con (ie. they invented the “you now need a license” that ‘THEY’ control) to you now need “OUR” SEMINARS which “we” also control.
Podiatry has been a shrewd NYC BUSINESS from it’s Manhattan beginnings in the 1900’s. In TRUE NYC FASHION, it’s a rigged “shell game” and you’re the RUBE!
The surnames say a lot.
