Afterwards one could probably take additional loans for medical school.
Why should college graduates without money in 2024 go to podiatric medical school and expect they likely will earn a good living while smiling? We need to smile and take care of each other Robert. First why not get a different profession save money and then apply to podiatric medical school, and join the APMA to meet friends and smile?

I finished Temple Pod School, my brother was two years behind me at NYU med School. There is ZERO comparison with Pod curriculum and Med Curriculum. From the classroom material to the rotations 3rd and 4th year, nothing similar or close to a real medical program, not at Temple and more than likely not at the other Pod schools. No way could a Pod student pass the USMLE exam and no way could a Pod school become a Med school. I would worry more that no students are applying to Pod school than worry about MD degree and one board.
A podiatry student that graduates and goes to medical school afterwards might pass the USML.

Medical school alone does not let one join the APMA but medical school and podiatry school and a DPM license qualifies if one meets the criteria of paying dues monies.

The cerebration needed to work in the MEDICAL arena is greater than the MOTIONS needed to do “surgery”. Podiatry emphasizes surgery because there is little to no actual medicine in the bag of bones. Thus, “surgery” is the closest podiatry gets to approximating the mainstream; everything else is STILL JUST PLAIN CHIROPODY with a necktie.

I was at the HOD, my first time. Words to describe it, Joke, carnival, all pre planned, old guys with egos, senseless and useless. Worrying about one board? how about worry about low reimbursement, PAs and NPs and now RNs doing foot care. APMA has NO concept of what is going on in the healthcare world. My 4th year in practice as an associate making 120 K barely surviving, though I would join my state association and help out, I will resign and focus on something of greater value….my financial survival.
You’re probably still young. I recommend a career outside podiatry. Due to a little luck and my wife’s intelligence we were able to find financial stability outside of podiatry. Good luck.
what did you except to find at APMA meeting? these are chiropodists that have enriched themselves by forming consulting groups, buying groups anything that will take money out of a colleague’s pocket.
