The American Secret Society of Podiatry (ASSP)
I was watching late night television and there was an old black and white show called “I’ve Got a Secret”. It would be the perfect panel discussion for a podiatry seminar. Maybe Ivar Roth could sit there as panel members try to guess his SECRET sauce to cure onychomycosis. Or Lowell Jr. the Lesser of two evils. The panel might guess his SECRET formula for collecting money in podiatry. My first guess would be inherit it from his retired Daddy-O ? My second guess would be suck money off of other podiatrists ? Or we could guess the SECRETS of Integrative Podiatry (ie. Robert Kornfeld). Or the SECRETS of make pretend foot types in children’s feet (ie. Louis DeCaro). Or the SECRETS of the prostitute APMA board members with no academic accomplishments in their life become paid consultants and lecturers. Or the ……. well you get it. Podiatrists are loaded with SECRETS to cure disease. You just pay to learn the SECRETS. Can’t learn them in the schools, they don’t know the SECRETS. That’s why applications are down. Schools don’t know the SECRETS.I would be surprised if the Chinese or Russians or Koreans aren’t involved in espionage to obtain the podiatry SECRETS. Maybe Biden has sold them already. My opinion. Podiatry is not filled with SECRETS. It’s filled with SECRETIONSAs in cretins. Correction to spelling ….…. SECRETINS. Podiatry is the SECRET Society of Medicine. And then again, didn’t Ira Krause call podiatry “the Hidden SECRET” in medicine ? Maybe that’s the problem. Nobody knows about podiatry because it is a Kraussean SECRET.

As a fellow podiatrist, I have to say that this blog post on The American Secret Society of Podiatry (ASSP) had me hooked from the very beginning. The reference to the classic TV show “I’ve Got a Secret” immediately caught my attention. But as I continued reading, I couldn’t help but laugh at the witty remarks about the various secrets within our field. From Ivar Roth’s secret sauce for curing onychomycosis to the mysterious ways of Lowell Jr., this post had me guessing and nodding in agreement at the same time. And don’t even get me started on the integrative… Read more »
Always remember- Never approach a Bull from the front, a horse from the back or a dpwtf from any direction.
Wait a second. What podiatrist would charge another podiatrist money to learn podiatric techniques that they know? Aren’t podiatrists suppossed to help each other and not make a profit doing so? Okay, so many a very few podiatrists might charge other podiatrists money to learn techniquest they know, but isn’t this a rare occurance?
We are suppossed to help each other out and not charge money doing so. These are my opinions.
Opinions, are you ok, seriously?
Private practice is available for podiatrists to particiapte in. For some, all that is needed is another income source to keep one’s private practice available. The income source should also be enough to support spending money for both your practice as well as joining the APMA and state societies so one can socialize, have fun, meet other podiatrists and vendors. Once a member one can encourage other podiatrists to spend their money to qualify for membership to join. One main advantages of a podiatrist over a Nurse Practioner is that the podiatrist qualifys for the opportunity to spend their money… Read more »
There must be a secret society of lispers. I listened to BENJAMIN PEARL AND PODIATRIST BLAKE talk gobbly gook about an INVERTED ORTHOTIC! WTF! Aren’t orthotics quack enough? Blake uses a “word salad” (lisps and slurs included) about supporting the medial side of the foot! WTF have OTC and every kind of arch support been doing for the most part? Support that evil deadly killing pronation! Blake (part of the Root business), along with DE Caro, who’s ‘INCREASING VOLUME” (of sales) are the heart of podiaty’s problems. Can’t you see the selling BUSINESS SIDE HERE? THERE IS NO PLACE FOR… Read more »
Seriously, what is the deal with these lispers and heavy breathing/breathy noises from New Yaawk or those with New Yaawk ties?
It’s beyond weird. The lisping and garbling words.
Who ever heard of a legitimate medical profession that was peppered with quackery and crooks? Where are the majority of podiatrist’s clamoring to clean up those crooks from the trade? (I can’t call it a profession) Dirty men make it a dirty profession and I see Barry Block complicit in his daily presentation of crookery, quackery, and money. I hate present day podiatry because of such men. I’ve long claimed podiatry COULD be legitimate and mainstream if it took out the quackthotics, shoe sales, and practice management shysters. Throw in the drop out podiatrist-lawyers and you have the beginning of… Read more »
The sad thing is most will go to their graves thinking they were doctors or “did good”… denial, delusions, deceptions. Zero self reflection.
The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Tolstoy -story of a lifer who on his death bed realised lived his “life” for someone -something else. Sad.
First of all I remember as a student I was taught that law and podiatry were honerable professions. I learned this at the NYSPMA. Robert, please relax and realize that most podiatrists are out to help patients and if someone cannot afford to pay for care, my guess is they would still treat patients. You see there is a joy that occurs when patients are helped. Today I had a patient with a painful ingrown toenail that I treated. After treatment, they felt much better. This is what podiatry is all about, helping our patients. If one wants to treat… Read more »
You need to be investigated.
My opinions: Robert, you might investigate and reconsider spending your money today.
First of all, the APMA is an honorable organization and so are the state societies.
Why not investigate all the advantages of spending your money to qualify for membership today? Let the investigation begin:
At meetings Meet vendors other podiatrists have fun socialize so why not spend your money to qualify today? Once a member one has a wonderful opportunity to encourage others to join.
Disclaimer: I missed a boxed lunch (there may not be enough boxed lunches), but there were teabags and other podiatrists. I
Podiatrist were tea bagging each other. OMG
You think lawyers are ‘honorable’? Are you a schmuck, mentally ill or playing us ? That what they ‘taught’ you?
How about thinking for yourself?
They WOULDN’T treat patients if they knew they wouldn’t be sued. Essentially they are FORCED to see patients or suffer their own economic (loss of license) peril. Honorability in Podiatry? I’m not so sure especially in “the city”.
