Less and Less !
Has anyone noticed that less is less summarizes the present and future of podiatry ? Less students applying and less students entering podiatry colleges. Less demands for academic excellence and performance, with the podiatry colleges, increasingly desperate for matriculants, accepting students with lower and lower MCAT and college GPA’s.
Less and less. Decreased almost nonexistent oversight of CME activities (and college curricula) by CPME. Anyone filling out the paperwork and pretending to adhere to the unenforced CPME “guidelines” may conduct CME activities, and essentially steal money. Many programs such as the ACPME, Presents, the No Nonsense seminars, (or in fact any continuing education program) are nothing more than corporation controlled infomercials.
Less and less. No effective oversight of residency education. Residency enslaved graduates running around primarily in community hospitals and surgery centers, cutting and cutting, or in many instances doing almost nothing. No academics if merit. No research. Residency and fellowship directors enriching themselves through cheap FREE labor known as a resident.
Less and less. No security or supervision for the recertification of ABFAS members. A ridiculous number of phony board certifications totally unsupervised by the profession.
Less and less. Effective, dedicated, unselfish activity of the APMA for the advancement of podiatry science, acceptance, legislative advancement. Less and less APMA membership.
Less and less. Payments for surgery. Freelance wound care. Medicare reimbursements. Half brain dead shysters and hucksters writing into PM News. Oversight of corporate influence buying in podiatry.
Less and less. Private practice.
More and more. Quackery, fraud, abuse. Unneeded surgeries. Wound care products. Office sales of anything for a buck. Purchases of failing private practices by large groups, who destroy the remains of the private practice, like a vulture, picking at the remains of a dead body.
Less and less. The future of podiatry.

Antidepressants might help a pedal neuropathy.
So what if a side effect occurs and depression is helped. Just learned this at seminar this weekend
“NY Podiatrist Recommends Wearing Slippers at Home“
Podiatry mismanagement “news”
That’s what happens when you’ve lived your whole life UNDER AN EXTREMELY LIMITED LICENSE. Oh, but those New Yawk podopoliticians “are working so hard for you”. PLEASE SEND MONEY.
Change the curriculum and join the mainstream? Not a chance when you can “have dinner meetings, suites, and drinks allegedly “working hard”.
My opinion is if money is spent scope might not change, but you do get to belong to the state society and APMA. Think of the wonderful opportunities to attend meetings meet vendors and take pics of old classmates. Think of the fun. Be licensed and spend money to qualify for membership.
Its the msm of podiatry. A bad joke
Next in: Podiatrist recommends wearing warm socks during winter times.
Hand surgeon suggests wearing mittens when it is cold outside.
Shyster Barry news
This is valuable advise for patients with cold feet to wear stockings. Advising our patients to do so is a valuable service part of a comprehensive foot exam and treatment. This is why it is important to pay money to qualify to loin the APMA and state society meetings.learn about fungus toenails etc… Who knows, my personal opinion is in the future maybe there is a possibility that Robert and others at pod post will consider spending money to join the APMA and state societies. Think of the possibilities. Meet old classmates, take pictures together. How many of you out… Read more »
Nearly a half a century later and there it is, a desperate older podiatrist advertising nonsense to get customers for his business. Mac Clean talks about: The dangers of EXCESSIVE……pronation. Come on already with the pronation thing. That horse is long beaten and every Boy Scout knows about flat feet. (pronation) The article is just a business trick. Podiatrist WERD (a big practice management lifer) swims and gives a flag to a family. OK, superficially noble but being a podiatrist you know the flag, the picture, and the ad is for SELF PROMOTION. Ask podiatrist WERD if he had an… Read more »
Yup. The flag prop-psyop–just like the patriotic musak propaganda at the footsy klub akin to the sports ball nationalistic shows etc. Brainwashing to the lemmings.
Perhaps podiatrists can get cosmetology licenses if they wish to trim fingernails. I believe this might require going back for additional training and testing and studying.
Still save some money to continue to qualify for membership in the APMA and State societies. I guess this way there can be 2 different professional degrees held.
Can anyone explain why the hospital I am on staff at just hired a Nurse Practitioner to run the wound clinic. She is the Boss. She did ask me on what days I am available to cut nails. This information is for the three year trained DPM surgeons who will be broke within 5 years.
no one cuts nails anymore and no one makes money anymore because they are all surgeons.LOL
See? WE told you the 3 year program was a fraud to make money for the podiatry directors and the hospital administration. 1year or 5 years all = a license so limited YOU WORK FOR A NURSE OR P.A..
That’s real podiatry. Of course the schools, the boards, nor Barry Block won’t admit the FRAUD. YOU ARE NOT DOCTORS, PERIOD.
How can you call yourself DOCTOR when you’re not part of the mainstream and nurses and P.A.’s are needed to give you permission to cut toenails? YOU’VE BEEN HAD.
Because the NP has a full license and we do not. Podiatry has not caught up to 2024, still in 1972 that’s why I do not pay dues to the APMA, so the leaders can have steak dinners.
mr chasskin pays it proudly bc you get to smile and be with “friends”…..
Why not spend your money today so you can qualify to be a member?
Proper examination and treatment of toenails is a valuable service for those who have compromised circulation.
You see, nurses do care about treatment of nails. One should be proud to treat nails because it is a patient service. The nurse felt you were qualified to give nail care and my opinion is it is an honor to help patients toenail pain and suffering. As far as getting money perhaps going back to school to get a nursing degree to treat other parts of the body might help. I personally and others might not have a positive income flow in podiatry. A nursing degree might help provide additional opportunities. I am so sorry there might be so… Read more »
There is a book from the 1950’s called Smugtown, USA by journalist Curt Gerling. Smugtown being another name for Rochester NY. Gather that Kodak is one of the victims of this smugness. After all, the company used to employ 30,000 people. What’s left of it employs only around 3000. And many an insider know attributes this to the smugness of the “leaders” of Kodak some years back, namely their failure to embrace digital photography. Sort of how the P amped up the mimic factory. “Just like,” instead of just change. Eerily similar the way the P pushes toward parity by imitating its “boards” and CPME, and three year training programs, and the foot club cheerleaders. Cut down on non-pod-certified, three year post triad training, and bingo, they’ll supersede the USMLE smackdown, distancing from the mainstream and rise of the extenders. Hmm…the PAs might wonder if they could get their own pod-bitches. Just think some day DPMs will be referred to as: “Yo bitches cut those nails,” by PAs and medical assistants.
B-b- but ima surgeon of the foot and sometimes ankle. I am fartfas certifried
Thanks Eddy! I think the answer is easy MD take over pod schools and residency programs . That gives up power and money …
They will never admit they were wrong. It would mean repudiation of their entire lives.
So the American College of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons (whatever that is) awarded Hartley Miltchin, DSC from Toronto, Canada a Professorship of Surgery. Funny how these MIS surgeons seem to award professorships, as the Academy of Minimal Invasive Ambulatory Surgery also awards professorships. Perhaps someone can help me out. I seemed to have missed Mr. Miltchin’s research and publications. Anybody have a list ? Could a requisite for Professorship in the ACPPS be maintaining a celebrity shoe collection ?
LOl. you can take that reasoning and apply it to all Podiatry boards and organizations. All self appointed experts and leaders, all ingenious business men who take advantage of their bros. All who have not progressed Podiatry one iota in 40 years. At the end of the day, which will soon be the end of Podiatry, it makes no difference. Do the Deans of the Podiatry College have degrees in education? Brilliant! My thirty plus years podiatry, it’s corrupt and totally disfunctionall!
Who said podiatry was a field that all podiatrists can be financially successful? My opinion is
Schools and the APMA and state societies should give full disclosure to all students that there are podiatrists unable to earn a living.
Podiatry crooks who started BOARD BUSINESS subjecting pods to indenture to them. Boards “certified” only by pod themselves through the APMA and CPME. ALL a circle jerk of collusion designed for profit and to find a “job” for a few far away from the foot. It’s a dirty lying field thanks to a central cult controlling YOU. Haven’t you caught on yet?
Podiatry is one of the shrewdest, cleverest cons ever devised. Those that INVENTED IT have a special talent for trickery and should be reviled. They promised hope THAT NEVER CAME.
Serious question. There appears something “off” with his face. Is he ok?

We’ve long witnessed the plethora of plaques handed back and forth among lifers. Like podiatry, they are illegitimate and not mainstream recognized. They make for good dinner conversation and as advertisements in ones office. Podiatry is built on FRAUD.
“They make for good dinner conversation and as advertisements…”
Yup. It is “good” for banal blather and filling in dead silence during shitty family -friend dinners.

I’m getting nervous. As a pretty old mustached (as well as pony tailed) foot technician I see pods dropping like nails in a debris tray. Well, I guess we all come to that end but it’s of little solace when you see your number coming next. If I can leave my own legacy statement, (who else will) I want it known that I firmly believe (through empirical observation not emotion) that podiatry has been held back by a small number of “Lifers” who NEVER REALLY WANTED THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BEING AN ACTUAL DOCTOR. Podiatry is to medicine as the squeeze box is to the symphony orchestra.
“…pods dropping like nails in a debris tray.” Yep “Podiatry is to medicine as the squeeze box is to the symphony orchestra.” Yep again. Podiatry is long in the tooth of grimy dentures in a glass of murky foulness on the bedside table of any given nursing home. Its will be tough for you, the APMA and the schools only put out a narrative to keep themselves financially solvent. Look at your clinicians at the schools, all losers that pipe the company policy to keep their jobs. If it was such a gold mine profession they wouldn’t be there. The next few years you will see that private practice and even group practice in Podiatry will be very very hard.
I understand someone may be depressed if they are not happy in their job. My opinion is
A podiatrist with a podiatric residency certificate is much luckier than those who could not get licensed in a state they choose because they could not get a podiatry residency match.
There also might be an opportunity for a podiatrist to attempt to get an NP degree if one can financially afford to do so.
Good luck
Again—-Podiatry “residency” is not a real residency mr Chasskins.
70+ and still working in a NYC slum
It is going to be a long haul for you. Either in private practice ( don’t do it) or in a group practice. The whole profession is based on “photo copy what MDs do” But we are not MDs and do not have an unrestricted license.
I get the same reimbursement as you will and I did a one year residency and I am close to getting out at age 55 because Podiatry makes no financial sense.
Yes, “Truth Hurts”, a one year program license is the same as a 3 year program license and as an “x” year program license. And, all those licenses are still < a P.A. LICENSE. Oh, but the political crooks are "working hard". Maybe we need some P.A.'S to be in charge of the quack colleges. Thanks Eddy your comments very sobering but spot on thanks!
You’re welcome Sybly.
“Didn’t pay attention”. (Eddy) Perhaps there is a type of “attention deficit disorder” disproportionally present in podiatrists. They’re not necessarily stupid, just “mixed up”. Podiatry seems to be the “catch basin” for those not totally whole.
My only explanation as to why podiatry doesn’t follow obvious logic and just correct its weaknesses is that there must be SOME ORGANIC DAMAGE IN THE LEADERSHIP that precludes it. Damaged men are running (ruining?) podiatry’s evolution. Don’t support them. Expose them. Fight for the TRUTH.
“BALLISTIC PODIATRY”!!!!! I’m listening to the presidential debates and Ron DeSantis accused Nikki Haley of Ballistic Podiatry……SHOOTING HERSELF IN THE FOOT!! In Flaw duh, where pods claim leg and vein surgery, and advocate thigh biopsies, I wonder what pod whispered that term to DeSantis? I doubt if DeSantis came up with that term on his own! Is there a board of Ballistic Podiatry in Flaw duh? Or is that Nirnberg’s term from his alleged Forensic Club. Look for more use of the term “Ballistic Podiatry” in ads, clubs, and seminars. Florida is when it comes to becoming licensed.
Is that why your office has bars over the window and door? Maybe get a job at the collision center perhaps there’s a geriatric hiring incentive?

There’s always a lot to write about in a lying quack profession and today is no different. So let’s put some perspective on the “twists” propagandists like Barry block print for profit. The PM News declaration by Dr. Ivar Roth, the self declared icon in which he states that, following a training course he would perform the implantation of a spinal cord stimulator was interesting. Medical students, residents and fellows rotate through a plethora of sub specialty services from surgery to pediatrics to psychiatry. What they learn above all is an appreciation for the complexity and depth of knowledge required in these specialties the existence of which they were unaware. They realize there is much they do not know. Later, in practice, knowing to paraphrase, they know there is “more to this… Read more »
Totally true Hallux Guy. Podiatric Education is so narrow and so propagandized that one could easily make the argument that PODIATRISTS ARE DANGEROUS because their propagandized pompousness precludes global MEDICA-SURGICAL understanding. Analogy: In order to make the PRISON cell of their LIMITED LICENSE seem larger, deluded lifer podiatrists draw the equivalence of a SCENIC mural on the cell wall and rationalize that the distant mountain and field in front of them is obtainable just by walking toward it. Home run post Hallux Guy. Roth, Udell scary people. Not sure if I should cry or laugh that a podiatrist believes with just a little more education (weekend seminar) he could implant a spinal cord stimulator. I am really hoping this is an early April Fools story. Oh, BTW a PA friend of mine works at a pain management practice. He has implanted spinal cord stimulators. According to him the procedure is performed at an outpatient surgical center. So, Ivar’s no insurance argument doesn’t really fly. God, I am so sick of this profession.

How can anyone get cases just to do surgery? This makes no sense to me. The purpose of practicing podiatry is not to push surgery just to get a case load. I would stay longer until one has patients who really need podiatric surgery and if it fits their lifestyle. I would never enter podiatry as a profession if I had to look for surgical cases to be able to graduate from a podiatric residency program to practice. Perhaps Pennsylvania has an opportunity to get licensed without requiring a podiatric residency program.

Do to some familial or cult school brainwashing they’ve been taught to IGNORE THOSE THAT DISAGREE, “CRAFT THEIR OWN WORLD TO LIVE IN” SMILE AND LOOK SUCCESSFUL. This explains the IDEATION about the world’s best profession, ” we’ve just like”, orthotics are like contact lenses, and every foot can use a little surgery. I’ve concluded that, after 45 years of… Read more »
The (fake) smiling/happy talk obsession is bizarre.
It’s acting. Insincere. Delusional.
Add in ultracrepidarianism (depicts dmps well) – and you got plenty of nothing.
New York State in my opinion is not as fair as Florida which allows a licensed podiatrist to treat the foot and leg. Check out the Florida scope of practice. My opinion is podiatrists in NYS should consider getting a Florida or New Jersey license as a means to increase scope.
Mr chasskin- why do you support that fat, opportunistic, piece of excrement above?
Mr. Chaskin, ask yourself why podiatry is such a dirty untrusted trade that most states will not let a podiatrist touch the ankle let alone the leg. Also ask, what INDUCEMENTS were given to Florida LEGISLATORS to grant a scope which is OBVIOUSLY OUTSIDE THE EDUCATION GIVEN IN THE QUACK COLLEGES and why very few other states find such a scope un-safe for their citizens? What commonality is there between Florida and Podiatry that would influence Florida politicians to let NON MD’S MAKE MONEY off Floridians. I also wonder why some FORMER big names (H.V.) moved to Florida to take… Read more »
Voglers-where art thou?
Robert, my personal opinions are just because one is licensed to treat the leg, does not mean they should do so without the informal training and supervised experience by someone else who is independently competent to do so. The license is the first step allowing for such supervised training. This is why they call it the practice of podiatry to continually learn from others as well as yourself. My guess is MD s are licensed to perform debridement of foot ulcers or any type of ulcer yet they likely would not perform this independently unless they learn how to do… Read more »
MD’s don’t bother inserting rectal thermometers either. There are “handmaidens” to do that.
