As an orthopaedist, most of podiatry and its members are beyond a joke. Most podiatrists are primarily concerned with peddling orthotics. No matter what your problem is, they attribute it to ‘overpronation’ and prescribe orthotics. Planter fasciitis? Overpronation. Shin splints? Overpronation. Knee pain? Overpronation. Back pain? Am a 2nd year at a hospital for podiatry residency. Thought give some comments because most of what we hear is optimistic fake stories from podiatry schools and directors. A lot of residents in other specialties have been nice. But some of the NP’s and nurses have been really rude on my off service rotations. Even occasional profanties to DPM residents. Podiatry has failed people like me regarding license reciprocity in states such as NYS. Without podiatric residency training one cannot get licensed in states such as NYS. Also, some foreign medical schools failed to get all their graduates who want to practice medicine in the US matched with US residency programs to become licensed. These are reasons why I feel an NP degree is a better choice. There might be a shortage of podiatry residencies or medical residencies. If schools increase enrollment and

No, Seth. It’s not the PA’s or MD Orthopedic surgeons threatening podiatry. It’s the PODIATRY POLITICAL LEADERSHIP, THE APMA, THE CPME, AND THE QUACK COLLEGES that threatens us by their FAILURE TO CHANGE.
