1. You will never ever have an M.D. degree on graduation from a podiatry college. Never. The recent USMLE examination fiasco, orchestrated into embarrassment by the APMA, was a slap of reality.
2. You did not attend or graduate from a medical school. You attended a podiatry school. You can print a phony M.D. degree if you wish. No one will recognize it. It will never happen.
3. You will never be accorded the same respect as an orthopedic surgeon. In podiatry you can make a lot of money. Many do. You do this by hustling, selling, confabulating needs for surgery, DME, orthotics, anything you can foist on a patient. But never will you be viewed as a real doctor no matter how rich you become.
4. The APMA will never achieve state to state practice definition parity. Never. Stop hallucinating about this fantasy.
5. Podiatrists will never stop cannibalizing each other for money. This will never stop. It is analogous to a cancer, which will only finish with the termination of the victim. APMA is the primary tumor. The metastases can be found lecturing at local, state, regional and national meetings. Early warning signs may be found in PM News and APMA news.
Yes podiatry is like Peter Pan. It is the little boy (can we still say that ?) who refused to grow up. Unfortunately, neither the APMA or PM News is Tinkerbell. There is no magic wand or pixie dust that will save podiatry from Captain Hook.

Wait a second. What about the podiatry residents and students that are international physicians. My guess is that they tried to get a residency match but ended up going to podiatric medical school and got a podiatry residency. I was at a hospital today and I asked one today wasn’t podiatric medical school easy, because you went to medical school. The answer was it was different. NP and PA schools will NOT accept foreign medical school graduates. Which leaves them either going to Chiropractic college or Podiatry school.

A few corrections: podiatrists do not attend medical school and podiatrists do not attend residency. But you’re somewhat catching on in your advanced years.
Becoming a real Doctor in the US is a lot more difficult than becoming a podiatrist. Perhaps these FMG’s went to a school of lesser quality than US MD schools so foot school was easiest choice. FMG’s may not know what Nurses can do in the US. so they may not be aware of the DNP degree. Nurses certainly DON’T have that power overseas so FMG’s don’t know about it.
So, just like podiatrist who were rejected from MD school , these foreigners ALSO took podiatry as a
“fall back”. Podiatry schools get the REJECTS for the most part.
It does not make sense. But this is the US. So in a way, it does make sense.

The USMLE slap was mostly taken – by whoever runs the pod show – as a nice pat on the snout as a “good pody, go lay down, roll over and fetch – But the weirdness of it was that statement was a recommendation of sorts to the P to do something about its training.
And that recommendation fell on deaf ears. Yet, more sales tactics to get third world era and 3rd tier uni students to pay to play in pody training school.

There is a positive to understand systemic reactions. This is why a NP degree and an MD degree path is in my opinion better than a DPM path. The DPM path lacks the ultimate unlimited license to treat any anatomic body part.

Either change podiatry and make it LEGALLY EQUIVALENT to MD/DO’s or STOP EXAGGERATING AND ACCEPT YOU’RE ONLY A GHOST OF A DOCTOR forever roaming the land (multiple offices) treating minor local maladies.
