I was a resident at a Podiatry Program, we just looked to book cases for the residency director. Of course we had the nail clip clinic to attend to. It was not a teaching hospital, It was not an ACGME approved program but a CPME approved program with a crazy number of cases we had to do.

My opinions: No one should independently perform procedures they are not competent at performing. If a podiatric resident can assist with ankle surgery, so can a podiatrist that is licensed to do so in states such as New Jersey and Florida. There should exist a uniform process whereby all members of a hospital staff assist others to gain additional training to upgrade their skill set. It is not about making money. One can excavate parts of a sneaker to offload certain areas and use felt inside other parts of the shoe to dramatically alter bait.
