ACFAS is changing the rules on the Board of Directors to prevent people from running

Now I am not exactly an “expert” on rules and bylaws of the board of directors of ACFAS but it appears that some people are acting nefariously at ACFAS, preventing people from getting seats on the board of the directors.  It appears to be done to keep a specific surgeon off the board: Brian Christopher.

It appears to do with the validating of signatures. Here is the specific change:

. Validation of petitions is required by the bylaws and shall include:
i.Use of the official petition document and related instructions (including
electronic submission) that will be posted on the ACFAS member website.
Nominees must use this official petition document and follow related
instructions (including electronic submission) for petitions to be accepted.
ii. Signatories must be an ACFAS voting member as of the date
recommended candidates were announced to the membership.
iii. Handwritten signatures are required. Electronic/typed in signatures are
not allowed.
iv.After the deadline for submission of all petitions, staff shall send emails to
a random sample of 10% of the signatories asking them to confirm they
personally signed and submitted the form to the petitioner and they wish to
have it counted toward the required number of petitions.
a. If the signatory does not respond to the staff email within ≈48
hours, a phone call shall be made to ascertain a response.
b.Lack of response (by email or phone) is a non-verified response and
is not counted toward the 10% sample.
c. Until a 10% random sample is achieved, additional petitions shall
be randomly selected. Meanwhile, email or phone responses will be
accepted.
d.Sampling will end when responses reach the 10% mark.
v.The number of any negative responses shall be extrapolated to reflect
100% of the signatories. Example: If one in ten responses of the 10%
random sample are negative, that shall reflect 10% of the total petitions
are invalid.
vi.Any member who requests to have their petition withdrawn must request
this in writing to the ACFAS office.
vii. If the number of negative responses drops the total petitions submitted
below the required amount, the petitions shall be deemed invalid and the
petitioner shall not be placed on the ballot.
viii. The bylaw mandated election date requirements shall be followed.

To say it’s not the greatest look would be an understatement.
