Five reasons Orthopedic Surgeons hate Podiatrists
1. Podiatrists go to easier schools and only do three years of residency where Orthopedic surgeons have to do six. Yet Podiatrists do ankle fractures, and Calcaneal fractures despite having less training than Orthopedic surgeons. Editors note: Some Podiatrists probably have the same training as Orthopedic Surgeons when it comes to Ankle and Calcaneal fractures but that number is probably 10-15% of Podiatrists. The vast majority do not have the training.
2. Money, Money, Money. When people say its not about the money it’s always about the money. The fact is the existence of Podiatrists hurts the bottom like of Orthopedic Surgeons. Basically, Orthopedic Surgeons have no competition for any other part of the body but the foot and ankle. The fact is Monopolies pay more.
3. So many Podiatrists are jack asses. Would you not roll your eyes if you were an Orthopedic surgeon at a Podiatrist down the road if said Podiatrist was selling vitamins to help Neuropathy and offering in house physical therapy?
4. Cliques. At the end of the day everything in life always reverts back to High School. Orthopedic Surgeons are one clique while Podiatrists are another clique. Everything in life is and has always been high school. Some Orthopedic Surgeons don’t like Podiatrists simply because they have a different name and are different.
5. A lot of Orthopedic Surgeons have had to clean up Podiatrist’s messes. Happens all the time. If you had to fix some Podiatry screw ups you would be pissed too.

This is damn true revelry among these two healthcare experts. The cause of hatred between orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists This is factual that being an orthopedic surgeon in the United States of America iscomparavely very dicult than being a podiatrist. The dierence comes in educaon level, residency program, and also in the level of exams. For orthopedic surgeons to enter a medical college the candidate needs to give MCAT (Medical School Admissions Test) with a 4-year degree program they also have to complete a 5-year master’s program. You can be a podiatrist by getting a 4-year podiatry medical degree.… Read more »
I had to have a REAL surgean…an Orthopedic surgeon repair the horrifically botched joke of a surgery that a 4 years of experience podiatrist performed on my ankle which was severely broken in half all three bones in a fall. She did a horrific job…put 4 rods where only 2 we’re supposed to go and several metal balls ??? For no known medical reason other than to cripple me !! She kicked me out of the operating room and hospital after I woke up from anesthesia after a 6 hour surgery saying this isn’t a hotel !!! I was given… Read more »
Maybe see cowardly lyons or mr chrrzaan the thief.
They look as us like they do chiropractic. It does not belong in the hospital. Orthopedists and many MDs would rather we stay in our offices and cut corns, calluses and all kinds of toenails. Be a podiatrist and stop trying to be “just like”.
Well Archer, if podiatry did that how could they keep the seats filled? It takes a good con to get a quarter million dollars and 7 years of your life. Podiatry is the con of cons. They’re so good that many pods still don’t know they are living a delusional lie.
Great pts. Robert also said aptly and correctly that most pods come from unknown or lower tier undergrads with mediocre grades, poor MCATs, weak ass majors, etc…then buy their way into podiatrical “school” (thanks mom/dad or take on huge loans), then kissed ass to some podiatrical post trainee ‘director’, did some post graduate inconsistent back of neck starring to play pretend “doctor.” “surgeon” on bunions, funions, and shoes. Oh, maybe they rubbed elbows with an MD ortho who TOLERATED them holding retractors, throwing some sutures etc….wow. wee. If you’re an ortho, you likely got excellent marks at top tier undergrad,… Read more »
My joke of a podiatrist begged to speak with my REAL Orthopedic surgeon when I realized she was a podiatrist and had butchered me…I refused…she didn’t like that…my orthopedic surgeon does not consider her a surgean at all…and considering I had to have another surgery by my incredible real orthopedic surgeon to repair her bitched surgery …I’m so glad I refused to introduce her…back door doctor indeed!!!
Really….they should not be legally allowed to do orthopedic serious surgeries….EVER
A podiatrist hack mutilated my broken ankle in a 6 hour emergency surgery with zero experience in surgery so complicated and extreme! She put 4 rods where only 2 needed to be there and 6 metal balls???? She said I should be walking on it in 6 weeks …I was crying in pain…I went to another hospital and they said I had a makunuion .I finnaly was approved for a GREAT real orthopedic surgeon and he redid her butcher job removing 2 rods and all metal balls and grafting a piece of my hip and putting my nonunion back togey.… Read more »
Perhaps, speak to Spare Ribowsky. The thick framed eyeglass wearing pink shirted imbecile who got quite the payout from a boating incident (had bicalcaneal fx fixed by real doctors/orthopods NOT pods), and the concubine MD helped furnish quite the lifestyle in the constate
You aren’t an orthopedic surgeon
You haven’t done years and years in a university and years and years in residency doing real surgeries
Podiatrist does a meagerly 3 years at a low level unknown college…not university…no hours in surgical experience
And starts there business and actually thinks there on the same level as an orthopedic surgeon ….
Guess what podiatrists?
You are not…!!!
You’re loud and wrong. Podiatric Medical School is 4 years and 3 year surgical residency. That’s 11 years of school if you include undergrad. I love the show on TLC “my feet are killing me” because it really shows the world what podiatrist really do. Leave it to you trolls, you will mislead people because you know nothing… Thank God the federal government consider them real physicians and surgeons. Even at hospitals their ID tag says Doctor spelled out lol you all sound like butt hurt med students who didn’t learn about podiatry school until too late. Grow up
I went to five orthopedic surgeons who could not diagnose, torn ligaments in my ankle. For a year and two months, I try to get a diagnosis after spraining my ankle. The orthopedic surgeons kept saying they couldn’t find anything, one finally said I should see a foot and ankle surgeon at which time he was livid that they let me walk around all this time having ruptured four of five ligaments. Including the deltoid. So, they may have gone to “medical school,“ but they miss this one by a large margin. So these doctors who have made themselves “… Read more »
I think Orthopods see podiatrists as arrogant asses that didn’t pay their dues to “sneak under the tent”. No one likes a ‘LINE CUTTER’. I’d be pissed too if I had a 3.8 and smoked the MCAT’S, did gobs of community service, wrote papers as an undergrad, and went to a “named” school, competed with those like me in MD school and fought for a real ACGME program, only to see the “community college” wtf types claim “equality”, just like-ness, with a less than PA license and call themselves “doctor”. Look at Barry Block’s picture then look at an MD… Read more »
Because certainly treating patients is about your grade point average, your MCAT, scores, the school you went to, while you can’t diagnose what a “line cutter“ did! It sounds like you all are a little bit arrogant, and believe that you deserve to treat patients because you Had to go through a more rigorous program because you chose a specific specialty. Sounds about white.
