I find articles like this mostly BS. It’s hard for me to believe Podiatrists in Oregon make the least amount of money, sorry. I think most Podiatrists are aware the worst states for them to make money in are: NY, Ohio, NJ and Pennsylvania. And it has nothing to do with payer mix and everything to do with increased levels of competition. But stories like this to depend on snippets of info that do not correlate to anything else.
Well I have been reading this site for about 6 months and now its my turn turn to post. It has finally hit home with my practice, the internal medicine group that referred to me, got bought by the hospital and they have hired two PAs. They were kind enough to tell me they appreciated me seeing their patients all these years but everything has to stay in house or in the hospital system using NPs and PAs. Thanks for telling the truth. You won’t find it in Barry Block’s PM News. He doesn’t want to risk his MONEY MAKING ENTERPRISE BY TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT PODIATRY. PA’s are already podiatrists bosses. Podiatry need their permission to cut a toenail. The school administrators don’t want to go back to cutting toenails and worry about lawsuits over their incompetence. I am very very grateful for the funny shoe pic blast publishing commentaries about getting shoe stress relief, not getting the pod training rerun, and so so happy that it gives me the opportunity to write about positive things in podiatry. Here is the state of Podiatry……..its a sorry state. DPMs all scrambling to survive. should they retire? should they sell the practice? should they join a big podiatry group ( this will fail over time) should they get employed by an ortho group? The profession has run its course to a dead end because of the low IQ and High Egos of the people who run the profession. The APMA has no clue.
