As Eddie likes to say a lot of Podiatrists’ main form of making money is “Making money off other Pods”. But what happens to this special breed of Podiatrists if the other Pods don’t have any money?
Cannot sell balance braces if Podiatrists cannot see patients and elderly cannot come to the office.
Cannot sell marketing if there are no patients to market to.
Cannot up-charge and sell at appointments if all the patients are broke.
Cannot have BS conferences for $500 per person if nobody is able to travel.
The worst part of all: when people are desperate they don’t want to hear your BS anymore. The jig is up for so many grifters. Nobody wants to hear Rem Jackson overstate the obvious for an hour now. Nobody is listening. Everyone is busy trying to survive. So pour one out for the Podiatry grifters.
Those of you that read the letter from Bret Ribotsky into PM News are probably still vomiting. The question really is what illness does he have. This is a guy who actively campaigned to be elected to the so-called podiatry Hall of Fame. So he writes a letter into PM News telling us what a fabulous lecturer he is and has been. Seth points out (in COVID and Sales) what the podiatry schools and the APMA-lifers keep hidden. And that is, Podiatry, on it’s own, can’t exist easily. Podiatry’s back bone is toenail trimming, callus scraping, and arch support selling. 90% of the practices could not exist without those nail salon type services. Selling is IMPERATIVE. Sales of ORTHOTICS (I hate those things because I don’t believe in their theory) are the #1 sales item. Just a little tidbit on peri-ungual erythema, discomfort (that’s not oozing pus): Corticosporin Neomycin etc., otic and ophthalmic drops (viscosity differs) spare your patients the avulsions and soaks. A few drops (it’s documented in the literature) works. When it doesn’t you know what to do, but at least you’ve exhausted all options. Excellent U Tube selection Eddy. Everyone should listen to it. I love the “amputation of spirit” sentiment. That’s occurs early in podiatry. When you learn you’ll never be above the ankle (except in a very few rare states) and can NEVER treat any systemic disease (in all 50 states) the spirit of learning and questioning is lost. Why bother they think? I can’t do it. I can’t get paid for it. I’m not recognized as competent in it…. so “f” it. Feet shoes and sales are their ‘forte”.
