Is Podiatry going to need a bail out due to the Coronavirus?

The economic carnage that is occurring to Podiatrists on a daily basis due to the Coronavirus will have a long lasting impact. Here is a simple encapsulation on what is happening to Family Practice during this period.

“By June, an estimated 60k family practices will close or significantly scale back, and 800k of their employees will be laid off…as they see a decline in business during the coronavirus pandemic, AAFP.”

That is Family practice. To give you an idea that is 30% of practices, and Podiatrists are probably getting it worse. So many Podiatrists are about to go bankrupt and lose their jobs.

mr director made over $550,000 plus pensions, healthcare, etc etc..first class airfare incl spouse for flights over 3hrs–no wonder why in Hawaii and far flung expensive places, deluxe hotels…and the idiot podiatrists PAID for this feces. photo ops, rigid toothy smiling and propaganda glossy. the “defense” for this bullshit–the BOD “approved” it–buddy buddy system and other lap dogs.

The year I was inducted into Barry Block’s Hall of Fame the National was held in Philadelphia. I was walking around with an offset cane and walking slow. And Glenn Gastworth was there wearing a Hawaiian shirt. And Barry Block’s son was no longer the luncheon photographer. And I was still waiting for my settlement from the Coast Guard so I could retire.

Bret, why did you have both calcanei operated on by a real surgeon (orthopod) and not by a podiatrist? Didnt your community tv channel proclaim pods were the “experts” of foot and sometimes ankle surgery? “No one knows the foot and sometimes ankle better than a DP.” Thanks and wishing the best.

When push came to shove I had more confidence in an MD orthopod then anyone in my own profession. But there was a female DPM that scrubbed in and acted as a 1st assistant. She passed hardware and instrumentation to the operating surgeon. I still think podiatry is the hidden pearl in medicine. Ira Krause has told me this.

Thanks Flatus. All the best to you also. And remember one thing if you don’t remember anything else. Nobody has a pulse on this wonderful profession more than Barry Block and myself.

Bret, when it comes to cutting edge critical thinking, provocative questions, and moving podiatry forward, you are the go to guys. Thanks again, you are a true Master/Famer. Enjoy that retirement and stay well.

Good. That’s capitalism. Free market. Strong survive the rest read barryster bullshit. You survived based on selling elective garbage and crap people do not need. You’re not needed. Your expendable and provided non essential bullshit services to bilk insurance companies—right Toots boots…..Not essential—no different than a sub shop. Pods were shams, most of them. Enjoy the basement, wonder what mommy s making for supper?
