In the case of the pt with shuffling, gait, bunions and hammer toes, the podiatric technician did something most podiatrist either wouldn’t do or would do only after they milked the patient dry. The podiatrist said she (the pt.) needed bunion and hammer toe surgery but should get the gait abnormality diagnosed. My Podiatric Residency was 2 years and a vacation..training? all we had to do is convince the 90 year olds on the floor they needed their bunions done and make up surgical cases by going to admissions and getting demographics and letting CPME see how well this program is going.
