This is not a contest as to which is more important becoming a podiatrist to treat the foot and toenail problems vs becoming a cardiac surgery to save lives. It depends on what one chooses to be and if they have the grades to actually get accepted into post graduate education such as podiatric medical school or medical school. Every individual may feel differently. For example treating an infected toenail my opinion is less stressful than participating in cardiac surgery. Enough of the “medical school” DPMs went to Podiatry School. Optometrists went to Optometry school, chiropractors went to chiropractic school, dentists went to dental school. Stop the charade of…Podiatric Medical School, when DPMs do rotations in internal medicine, Pediatrics, OB-GYn, Psychiatry and general surgery and sit for the USMLE step 1 ,2 3 ..then you can say you went to medical school.
