AAPPM web based marketing and the lack of qualified speakers

On the first day of the seminar the AAPPM has a marketing workshop, it is not so much a marketing workshop as an internet what to do work shop.  Here is the link:

The first lecture is by Glenn Lombardi from Officite.  Here is what you need to know.  You need a Podiatry website and if you want to be number one in your local market use officite.  There I saved everyone the trip to Pittsburgh and the reservation fee.

Then there is lectures from other AAPPM about Facebook, twitter and other social media subjects.  You know what is missing from these an actual social media expert.  Not some podiatrist who says he is an expert, or motivational speaker.  The thing is these people are out there and all over.  There are all kinds of companies that specialize in social media, some colleges offer it as a degree.  I guarantee in the town you are located now, there are at least three companies who do a lot with social media.  The point is finding a qualified speaker for this, would require the effort it takes to hit a google search or open a telephone book.  Why do you want to listen to what another Podiatrist does with social media.  Dirty secret, social media is crazy overrated in obtaining patients.  What is Dr. Schneider going to say, “look at my twitter account”.  Do you see all those spam accounts that follow me, let me teach you how to have non-existent humans follow you on twitter to increase your follows.  My point is there are not a single one of the people slated to speak has a computer degree, think about that the AAPPM are offering a full course on the social media and internet for an entire day, and not one of the speakers has a degree in computers.  What a joke.
